Great day on the water! - Absolutely fantastic experience! The entire crew was professional and incredibly pleasant from start to finish. Our captain and first mate were truly excellent—they clearly knew the best spots and kept us "on the bite." During our 6 hour trip, we landed a whopping 24 fish between the two of us, and that's not even counting the few that managed to escape! A top-tier charter.

Great Fishing Snorkeling and Crew on Cana!! - Fishing trip on fishing boat CANA. A friend and I took the 4-hour morning fishing charter plus 1 hour snorkeling and had a great time. We took the same trip Oct 2024 without the snorkeling and had a great time, so booked with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS again. The private transportation with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS from our resort (Breathless) and back was on-time and provided in air-conditioned van. We were picked up at 7:30 AM from our resort and the first fishing line was in the water around 8:30 AM and Barracuda on around 9:00 AM. Captain KELBE and fishing deckhand ALFREDO did a great job and knew exactly what they were doing to give us the best chance to catch fish. We caught a total of 7 fish (4 Mahi Mahi and 3 Barracuda). Boat and tackle were great! Water was beautiful! CANA is a good size boat for a fishing party of up to 4. I would definitely book with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS again and this same boat (CANA).

I asked the resort to contact BIG MARLIN CHARTERS by phone the day before to confirm our trip which they did (even though I had confirmed with them through Tripadvisor already, just wanted to make sure). The private transportation by MAX (with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS) from our resort (Breathless) and back was on-time and provided in air-conditioned van. I asked MAX if we could buy some Big Marlin Charters shirts when we were picked up and he called ahead and had them waiting at the marina ($35). We were picked up at 7:30 AM from our resort and the first fishing line was in the water around 8:30 AM. Captain KELBE and fishing deckhand ALFREDO did a great job and knew exactly what they were doing to give us the best chance to catch fish. We caught a total of 6 fish (4 Mahi Mahi, 1 Barracuda, and 1 Remora). KELBE and ALFREDO filleted and bagged the fish on ice for us to take back to our resort. Boat and tackle were great! Great time catching - Miguel and Alfred were great! We were able to get for Mahi on the boat. Then hand caught a bunch of bait amberjacks. We had a great time! Will definitely come back

Amazing 6 hour deep fishing tour! - Excellent experience. From chatting with the captain immediately after booking, transportation to & from the fishing point, to our captain & our first mate (Miguel & kevin) everyone was TOP notch! Way exceeded our expectations. Then the fishing! Started off slow, but our first mate went wayyy above & beyond to make sure we were all good & we were gonna catch something….then the fun started! Reels went off on a group of mahi & we landed a big bull mahi, 3 large mahi & one smaller. So much fun! After we had the best lunch on the beach with our fresh catch (seasoned so well) which the big Marlin crew worked out for us. Highly highly recommend this group!

Fishing with my Son - We came fishing with my son, booked a 6 hour charter. We had Capt. Willy and his mate Eric with us. Extremely friendly crew and good catch. We cleaned the caught fish and ate deliciously almost immediately after the end of the charter. Of course that's not our last visit to Punta Cana, but when we return here, we'll visit you again!

Great time + trophy fish! - Such a great trip! Cpt Yustas mentioned the size of the waves on the way into the marina so we knew sea sickness was a risk! We had one passenger get violently sea sick but the first mate, Kelsey?, was super kind and caring. Got him ice for the back of his neck and water. As for the rest of us, we had a great day. Caught 2 decent Mahi and a beautiful Sailfish! Husband drank all 12 beers and the drinks were cold all day. Last year, we went on Gone Dog and definitely prefer Cana's seating better. It's more open and seating is much more comfortable, especially for those that get motion sickness! Our only complaint (and why I rated a 4 and not a 5) was that the crew wasn't forthcoming about cutting the fish for us to take back to the resort, despite us already generously tipping... we had to ask about it and then they tried to give us a whole Mahi LOL. Like no, we need filets to take back to the resort. It's just a bit frustrating because we only wanted one Mahi and a small filet of the Sailfish for ourselves and it didn't seem like they were thrilled to share... oh well. Still a GREAT time! we'll book Cana again if we return to the DR! We also weren't offered ice for the fish like we were last year, but that's a minor detail. We asked our driver if they sell their Charter shirts and he took us into a market store where we were able to get 3 Big Marlin Charter shirts, but I feel like we got a bit ripped off ($45/shirt), but oh well! Memories and we asked last year but they were having supply issues due to COVID, so we took the opportunity to buy while they had them in stock. Unrelated to this particular charter, but if you get seasick, I 100000% recommend Reliefband. It's an electrical pulse wristband that has completely mitigated my severe motion sickness (car, plane, and boat). Also, it will never hurt to take motion sickness medicine so I'd recommend it for the DR, even if you think you have an iron stomach and don't get sick in the states... the waves are totally different here! The person who got sick is very used to off-shore fishing in the States and still got sick.

Very bad experience. Don't reccomend. - All tourist services in Punta Cana have lowered their quality. Unfortunately, this company is no exception. What is written on their website or what you're told on the phone has nothing to do with what you get when on boat. They say you can keep the catch, but if you really catch something (which doesn't happen too often) they want a big portion of the catch... The worst part is that they don't seem to understand that you have paid for the trip. The captain acts like he is doing you a favor by taking you on the boat. What is concerning is that the boat we've been with had only one working engine. The engine also had some fails in high seas, but the captain managed to start it again after a few tries. They shouldn't be allowed to go high seas with only one functioning engine. I would never recommend go fishing with this company, as I think it is a matter of time until something very bad will happen, giving their attitude.

Not recommended - Unfortunately, it was the bad deep-sea fishing I ever had. The first thing we were laughed at was because my wife was fishing with me. After that, 1 hour went out to the open sea, 1 hour back. The remaining 2 hours we drove up and down near the beach. (SEE PHOTO)The last 1.5 hours the 1 mate climbed up to the captain and was not interested in bait or us. My guess is he knew nothing happened near the beach anymore. And 4 hours trolling will be bland and was also not in the description of this trip.
