Setting Sail to Los Arcos

The sun was just beginning to rise over Puerto Vallarta as I made my way to the meeting point outside one of the local OXXO stores. The air was filled with the promise of adventure, and I was eager to explore the famed Los Arcos National Park. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours in the ocean, but the allure of snorkeling and cave exploration in this protected sanctuary was irresistible.

Our small group of twelve gathered, and we hopped onto a local bus heading south to the charming town of Mismaloya. The ride was a delightful glimpse into the vibrant local life, with colorful shops and friendly faces lining the streets. Upon arrival, we strolled through the bustling beachside community, eventually reaching our launch point at Paddle Zone Mismaloya.

Our guide, Andres, greeted us with a warm smile and a reassuring presence. His knowledge of the area was impressive, and his passion for the natural beauty of Los Arcos was contagious. With his guidance, we embarked on our journey to explore the five enchanting islands that make up this national treasure.

Navigating the Caves and Arches
