Setting Sail to Paradise

The sun was just beginning to rise over Puerto Vallarta as I boarded the boat for the Yelapa and Majahuitas Day Tour. The promise of a day filled with snorkeling, beach lounging, and a taste of local culture had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today was no exception.

The boat ride itself was an adventure. The vessel cut through the waves with exhilarating speed, the wind whipping through my hair as I stood on the second floor, taking in the breathtaking views of the coastline. I quickly learned that the front of the lower deck was the sweet spot for a less windy experience. Discovering Hidden Gems

Our first stop was a secluded beach where the infamous banana boat awaited. I hesitated for a moment, but the thrill-seeker in me couldn’t resist. Riding the double-sided banana was a heart-pounding experience, and I found myself laughing uncontrollably as we bounced over the waves. The beach offered free-flowing beer and refreshing fruit drinks, perfect for cooling down after the ride.

Next, we anchored at a cove teeming with marine life. Snorkeling gear was provided, and I eagerly dove into the crystal-clear waters. The vibrant underwater world was mesmerizing, with schools of colorful fish darting around me. It was a reminder of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place. For those who preferred to stay dry, the view from the boat was equally captivating, with fish visible just below the surface.

A Taste of Yelapa and Majahuitas

Arriving in Yelapa, I opted to explore the beach rather than hike to the waterfall. The golden sands and azure waters were inviting, and I couldn’t resist a swim. The beach was a hive of activity, with locals offering photo opportunities with iguanas and other curiosities. A word of advice: always confirm prices before snapping that perfect picture.

Our final destination was Majahuitas Beach, where a sumptuous BBQ buffet awaited. The spread was impressive, featuring grilled chicken, BBQ ribs, and a variety of salads and desserts. With a cold beer in hand, I savored the flavors under the shade of palm trees, the sound of the waves providing the perfect soundtrack.
