- Puerto Rio Tranquilo - The journey starts in Puerto Río Tranquilo, a picturesque town along Chile’s renowned Carretera Austral. From this point, the group will travel for approximately 1.5 hours through the breathtaking Exploradores Valley, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, and majestic mountain vistas. This path leads to the entrance of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field and the magnificent Exploradores Glacier, which flows from Mount San Valentín, the tallest peak in Patagonia at 3,910 meters above sea level.
- Glaciar Exploradores - Upon reaching the CONAF Visitor Center, expert mountain guides will conduct a thorough safety briefing and distribute the necessary technical equipment for the hike.
The 7-hour trek to the glacier begins by traversing lush temperate forests and rocky moraines before arriving at the stunning white and blue ice. Once on the glacier, participants will don crampons and explore an extraordinary frozen landscape — crevasses, ice caves, and sculpted formations that continuously change with light and temperature.
Here, participants will experience the living ice — a unique and powerful encounter in the heart of Patagonia’s wilderness. After time to explore and enjoy a light snack, the group will start the return trek back to the base.
- Puerto Rio Tranquilo - After concluding the expedition, the group will return to Puerto Río Tranquilo, a journey of about 1.5 hours, arriving in the late afternoon. Participants will end the day with a profound sense of wonder, having walked on one of the most spectacular glaciers in the world.
