- Yokahu Observation Tower - This 69-foot tower was constructed by Dr. Frank H. Wadsworth (former Forest Supervisor and Director of IITF) in the early 1960s. From Yokahú Tower, visitors can see four types of forest: Colorado (smooth to the south), Tabonuco (irregular surroundings with white-leaved Yagrumos), Palm (on the steep slopes), and Cloud Forest (on the ridges). On a clear day, the coastline and even the Virgin Islands are visible (over a 10-mile view). The dense, ancient forest of the Baño de Oro Research Natural Area in the upper Mameyes Valley to the east is also visible.
- El Yunque National Forest - Embark on an unforgettable journey at the Puente Roto, or “Broken Bridge,” recreation site – a hidden treasure nestled along the Rio Mameyes’ recreation segment. Recognized by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River for its stunning natural beauty, this undiscovered sanctuary offers an immersive experience in an untouched oasis.
