Embark on an informative one-hour tour of Puerto Plata’s Victorian District followed by some relaxation time at north coast’s finest resort beaches. Your guide, proficient in English, will impart knowledge about the Dominican Republic and the historic San Felipe de Puerto Plata (note: this isn’t a shopping excursion). The tour includes a visit to the fort for historical insight and photo sessions, Parque Independencia to understand the independence struggle and the restoration era, and photo stops at the renowned Umbrella Street, and La Calle Rosa (The Pink Street). Lastly, enjoy a leisurely drive along the famous Atlantic Malecon before unwinding at the beach. Expect a minimum of two hours at the beach, complete with complimentary loungers, our special rum punch, fresh water showers, and a comprehensive bar and restaurant service!
- It is recommended to bring a swimsuit, under lightweight clothing, or resort wear

Puerto plata highlights and Golden beach - We booked this tour through Shore Excursions because the cruise was sold out of what we wanted. The times and logistics were very easy once the ship docked and we had a nice air conditioned vehicle waiting for us with our driver, Daniel. Alex was our tour guide who grew up in Puerto Plata and is well versed in the area. The first stop was downtown to see the town center and learn some history, and see the beautiful historic church. There is time for quick shopping. Alex took us down thru Umbrella Street and Pink Street and we stopped at a chocolate and coffee shop for samples. Alex has a wealth of knowledge about the island and answered all our questions and also made it fun. The last stop was to Golden beach where there were some food options available for purchase and they provided umbrellas or beds to lay on for shade. The beach is gorgeous and it was such a great time to just sit and relax. On the way back we enjoyed some rum punch, El Presidente beer (we made a little stop) and fresh bananas from a market nearby. We had a blast and would highly recommend this again for anyone who just wants something easy and fun.

10/10 great excursion and guides were awesome!! - We had a great time seeing the sights. Xander was awesome and Larique got us around safely and we were very well taken care of at the beach we spent time at. Sorry I can't remember his name said we could call him (sexy :) ) can't say enough about how friendly and professional they all were.

A great experience - We had the unique experience of visiting the Dominican Republic as they were celebrating their independence day. There was a lot going on but our guide, WInston, made sure we were able to see the highlights of the city. We then went to Playa Dorado Beach and Leury, another guide, stayed with us while we were at the beach to make sure we had everything we needed and to answer any questions. The beach was beautiful and we had lounge chairs, umbrellas, restrooms, and restaurants all available. The time at the beach went by quickly because it was so lovely. We were delivered back to our cruise ship right on time. It was a great way to see the highlights of the city and enjoy some pleasant beach time too.

Puerto Plata port with Beach. - Great crew and very professional. They were informative and gave us a chance to do some things on our own. Instructions given to find them at the port were clear. We were back in plenty of time to reboard our boat. Would definitely book this tour company again!

Wow wow wow!!! - Wow wow wow! Alex and Rosie made our day SO special and fantastic! It was my FIL’s 70th birthday and they treated him like a king! Not to mention all of the fun activities (walking tour of town, beach club, drinks, etc etc). The day was incredible! We have traveled all over the world and they were the best tour guides we’ve ever worked with! Thanks so much for a fantastic day!!!

Wonderful tour of Puerto Plata - Once we were clear to get off the ship we followed the wonderful instructions on how to find the meeting point outside the cruise port. They provided a photo with arrows showing how to walk to the meeting point as well as written instructions. It is quite a walk but was fairly level and we found it easily. Once we got checked in we met our tour guide Alex, assistant Anthony, and driver Daniel. The mini bus was very comfortable and they explained what we would be doing on the tour. We visited the town Puerto Plata and went to the Golden Beach area for a couple of hours. The beach had quite a few day beds and loungers and we enjoyed some drinks before heading back to the cruise port. On the way back they provided us rum punch and some freshly picked bananas. Alex, who spoke very good English, provided us with lots of information about his country and was very proud of it. We would highly recommend the tour if visiting Amber Cove.

Winston is the best!!! - This was our first time here in the DR. My wife and I came to the DR on the Carnival Celebration. I have used Viator in the past and was very pleased with their reputation. We did have to walk quite a distance to get to the van, however, we needed it, (all the cruise ship food). Winston was our tour guide. Wow! He is a wealth of history and information. He is very nice, easy-going, and funny! Anyone coming to the Dominican Republic should take this tour! Don't forget to ask for Winston!!
