City tour that’s worth the money! - This tour was worth the money! I really appreciated the flexibility they offered when we needed to reschedule, along with their excellent customer service and clear communication throughout the process. Our tour guide, Aribel, was fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. The pace of the tour felt just right, giving us enough time to enjoy guided experiences while also allowing for some independent exploration. We visited several interesting locations that provided great insight into the Dominican Republic, along with opportunities to purchase unique souvenirs. One tip: many places sell similar items, so it’s worth holding off on buying right away, you’ll likely see the same products elsewhere, often at better prices. When the rum factory we were supposed to visit was closed, Aribel quickly adapted and took us to a butterfly sanctuary instead, which turned out to be a lovely alternative. Overall, I’m very happy with the tour, the service, and the entire experience. Highly recommended!

Relaxed Half-Day Tour of Puerto Plata - My boyfriend and I felt like this was well timed out for a half day. We had a smaller group which also allowed us to connect with each other more and enjoy it all together! We did so many different things (the Rum Factory, downtown Puerto Plata, the cathedral, the Fort, Del Oro Chocolate Factory, and so much more). We didn’t feel rushed, and it was nice to be able to go back and forth between air conditioning and exploring outside. Our tour guide was amazing and helped us find the niche things to look for, provided some really good tips for us throughout our stay, and he was super friendly and wanted to ensure we had the best experience. This is something that is more lowkey but allows you to still explore the city and the culture.

Great Experience - Andy was so nice and attentive. My husband is wheelchair bound and he wheeled him everywhere we got down at. The reservation and the entire experience was very pleasant. Have used Viator in the past and will definitely use again!

Wheelchair accessible tour (if you can transfer to a car seat) - Excellent half day tour.. communication was good for meeting point and vehicle nice and air conditioned. Booked as part of a cruise as there were no suitable wheelchair accessible tours available so looked on Viator and found this one.. best decision ! Good value for money and much cheaper than the ship excursions.. had us back with plenty of time to spare for reboarding. Our tour was with junior and he was just great at helping us with my sons wheelchair and anything we would have needed help with.. he showed us all the sights and kept us safe at all times and parked as close as he could for us. Perfect tour guide 👌 would strongly recommend this tour 100%. Thankyou junior, yeury and aribel for our day out !!

Tour - "If you are visiting Puerto Plata, you HAVE to book with Aribel and Yeury. They made our city tour the absolute highlight of our vacation! They took us to the famous Umbrella Street, which was so vibrant, and then to a local chocolate factory. To top it off, they brought us to a beautiful restaurant for an amazing lunch. Aribel is so knowledgeable and warm, and Yeury was fantastic and professional. They treat you like family—we can’t wait to book with them again!"

Great way to see Puerto Plata - This was a nice, thought out and relaxing tour. Driver was knowledgeable and very friendly. We didn't feel rushed and he took into consideration one person in our group couldn't walk a lot.

1/2 day site seeing tour of Puerto Plata - Driver was good and knowlegeable about the city and history of DR. The car was very comfortable and we only shared it with 2 others. We enjoyed the rum and chocolate factories. The guide at the Amber mine just lead us into the gift shop passing up some of the exhibits. Would have liked to see more places that were not so "touristy".

Really Bad Excursion Experience - The tour guide was great; the tour was a cruise excursion in Puerto Plata. Now the bad part. I specifically got on a chat with a Viator rep because we have walking issues, and di not want to rely on the descriptions online. First thing I said was that we could not walk much distance, and that we were very slow. We would take a private tour or group tour, keeping the walking issue in mind. We were looking for a tour that would give us an overview of the island and one that would let us get off or stay on the bus at our choice. Viator rep suggested a tour which I booked. Viator has sold probably tens of thousands of these tours. They should at least be aware and pass on the info, that to get to the beginning of the tour you had to walk over a mile from the ship. We kept walking (or hobbling), thinking that it had to be just around the next corner. No way. Further, we received no notice of where to go, other than "where the tour buses all are" or what to look for or who to ask for. We were just told to go where the tour buses are. As it turned out, we wound up walking a lot further than we needed to, because what we really needed to look for wasn't a tour bus at all, but a small taxi van and drivers in green shirts. If one of the drivers hadn't approached up after we had been walking in circles, we never would have been on the tour at all. So, after the forced march to the beginning of the tour and getting loaded into the taxi like sardines in a can, we were in the taxi no more than 10 minutes before we had to get off to tour the first stop and stand for what seemed like hours. This was a rum factory, and they offered sample after sample, at about 11am. The rest of the tour was like that - short ride - much walking and standing. The worst of that was when we were dropped at one stop and were told we'd have to walk about a half mile to pick up the taxi, because there was no place for the taxi to park where we were dropped off. The driver/tour guide was wonderful. He waited for us because we could not keep up with the rest of the group - 8 in all - and at one point even walked the rest of the group to the next place and then came back for us. I have taken several excursions from Viator before. I was always pleased. After this, never again. And just an aside, I had to type this twice. Viator doesn't tell you until you're finished that you can't type your comments with the caps lock on!!!
