Great tour experience - Carlos our tour guide and Harry our driver made the experience great! Apparently it was just the two of us and they still held the tour! They took us around the island and up the mountain! On the way down we stopped and did a tour at Macorix for a tour and rum tasting. After that we went and learned about Amber and Larimar, which are mined on the DR. Then it was off to see how cigars are made. On the way to lunch, we stopped and learned about the coffee and chocolates. There was an opportunity to purchase their wares at all stops. The it was off to lunch. Delicious fried chicken, rice, beans and salad. After that we visited the fort on the island before heading g back to our ship. Carlos was very informative and lots of fun. He’s also a great photographer!! Harry made the trip run smoothly. All and all, we had a wonderful tour that ended up to be a private tour for two! Kudos to this tour company for running the tour for just us!! Thanks.

A great way to get an understanding of the island - When we first checked in for this trip, there were only two of us and I was a little bit disappointed. I thought it would be more fun with a larger group. However, I’m glad now that we were fortunate enough to have the guide all to ourselves. He was absolutely delightful, we had a wonderful experience, and I would recommend this to anyone that wants to get a good feeling for the whole island in a short period of time.

So much packed into a small time - We had a fabulous time with Alexander & Fernando on our tour. It ended up being a private tour which was really nice. Alexander took some really fun photos while we were visiting multiple locations. We never would’ve had such good couples photos on our own. We visited the Christ the Redeemer statue on the mountain. Alex pointed out all kinds of wild herbs and flowers along the way. The rum tasting was really fun! They brought us to the umbrella street, pink alley, we learned about cigar rolling, had a chocolate tasting and lunch at a cute cafe. We even danced the merengue! Learned a lot about the history & culture. Highly recommend!

Exceptional experience - Viator doesn't tell you the cable car has been shut down for a year, so we started off disappointed. However our tour guide and driver still made our experience 5 star. We started at the beautiful botanical gardens at the top of the mountain with outstanding views. We then had a rum tasting at a distillery lots of fun, bought some to bring home. Moved on to a quaint restaurant for a wonderful lunch. They took us downtown to the square. Toured the church, the umbrella street, pink ally and went to a jewelry store. They took us to a chocolate and wine tasting. From there we went to the Fort. There was so much we passed on the cigar making tour. Oh and did I mention free drinks with or without alcohol. This tour was awesome and a phenomenal value. Take this tour, you won't be sorry you did.

Good overview of Puerta Plata! - You see a wide variety of things. The only thing I would skip is the jewelry store - a hard sell - and not my thing. Everything else was wonderful. Carlos, our guide, and Henry, our driver were friendly and accommodating. Lunch was fabulous - such a cute restaurant!

Eat, Drink and be Extra Merry - From start to finish, the accommodations were top notch, endless drinks, information and more! Alexander the Great and Indiana Jones were so kind, positive, informative, safe drivers and more. Alex knew exactly where to take photos, told us all the historical facts about the DR and ensured we made it back to the ship promptly. We would recommend this trip to anyone!

Great views and guides, too many sales pitches - Carlos and Harry were fantastic guides. We arrived at the mountain top right at opening time so we were the only ones there. Carlos was eager to take great pictures of us. Lunch was also very nice in a beautiful back porch setting. The drinks were flowing at every turn. Only negative was the shopping stops were more like timeshare presentations. Jewelry, cigars, chocolate… all with quick 5 minute presentations followed with “now, how much do you want to buy?”. I asked to visit a regular old gift shop and they squeezed a visit at the end to a store where they haggled over every price. 5 stars for the guides, lunch, and the views. 2 stars for the shopping.

Interesting - The tour guide and driver were both very nice. We wish the guide was a little more knowledgeable about the history and plants.
