Great Time! Friendly Staff! - I recently visited the Monkeyland and Damajagua Waterfalls Buggies excursion in Puerto Plata, and overall it was a great experience from start to finish. We began the day at Monkeyland, which was a unique and memorable stop. Interacting with the squirrel monkeys was a highlight—they’re very friendly, climb right onto you, and make for some fun photo opportunities. While it has a bit of a touristy feel, it’s still something really enjoyable and worth experiencing. Next was the Damajagua waterfalls, which ended up being the absolute highlight of the day. After a short hike, you work your way down a series of natural waterfalls by jumping and sliding through them. Jumping off the falls was easily the best part—exciting, refreshing, and just a lot of fun overall. The guides here were excellent and made sure everyone stayed safe while still having a great time. We finished with the buggy ride, which was also fun and full of muddy trails. It was a bit shorter than expected for the price, but still a blast driving through the terrain and getting covered in mud. One tip would be that doing the waterfalls afterward is perfect for rinsing off. Across all three parts of the excursion—Monkeyland, the waterfalls, and the buggy ride—the staff were outstanding. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional, which really enhanced the whole experience. Even with the price and shorter buggy ride, it was a well-organized, fun, and memorable day that I’d recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Plata looking for a mix of adventure and unique activities.

We started the day at Monkeyland, which was a cool and unique experience. It’s a little touristy, but still something worth doing at least once. Next, we headed to the Damajagua waterfalls, which ended up being the best part of the entire trip. After a short hike, you climb up and then make your way down by jumping and sliding through the waterfalls. Jumping off the falls was easily the most exciting part—such a rush and something you don’t get to do every day. The guides were great and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. We finished with the buggy ride, which was definitely fun but felt a bit short for the price. Driving through the muddy trails and getting covered in mud was a blast, but I expected it to last longer. One thing I’d recommend is trying to do the buggy ride before the waterfalls if possible—the falls would be the perfect way to rinse off all the mud afterward. Overall, even though it’s on the expensive side and the buggy portion is short, it’s still a fun and memorable excursion in Puerto Plata, especially if you’re looking for a mix of adventure and unique experiences.

10 out of 10 - 10 out of 10. Such an amazing experience! The waterfalls were so cool- 4 waterfall spots to slide down, plus a chance to jump into to pool. Perfect for families-my kids are 8 and 12 and loved every second. The hike was definitely manageable and enjoyable. The guides were kind and ensured everyone felt safe and had fun. Absolutely would do this again. Monkey land was SO fantastic! Monkeys were cuter and sweeter than you could imagine and the handlers were highly skilled and caring. These monkeys are extremely well cared for and live a great, safe, long life. This is NOT a Tiger King situation. 10 out of 10.

Fantastic - Absolutely wonderful, even better than you hope!

Plan early in your vacation incase of cancellation - Booked the 3 in 1 excursion that included Monkeyland, Buggies and Damajagua Falls. Oir pick up time at our resort was 7am. Gone before any restaurant was open prior to our departure. We asked if lunch was included in the excursion and the answer was yes. The bus was late by 20 minutes. When it arrived we were told that the Falls and Buggy portion of our trip was cancelled due to weather conditions. We could receive a refund or go to Monkeyland. We went to Monkey land as we were already prepared for an excursion and it was better than nothing. 2 hour ride to from our hotel, while picking up from other hotels before arriving to see the Monkey’s. Seeing the Monkeys was great and interactive. I thought we would be visiting the entire jungle and home but we were just in a smaller enclosed area for our visit with the monkeys. There was a photographer there to take photos and you could buy all the digital photos for $35US. They are to send them by email. Next there was an area to see how coffee is made, a sample of both coffee and mamajuana and opportunity to purchase some products. There is a souvenir shop as well. The bus then took us to a “market” for more souvenirs. We made our way back to resorts and our bus decided to put us on another one of their buses to save their time and 2 buses going the same places. Our bus left us at the side of the road then we walked into another resort to meet the one picking us up. I thought this was unprofessional and felt uncomfortable with the busy traffic. It took 2.5 hours to get back to our resort. We did not get lunch as I was told was included in the tour. (Keeping in mind we didn’t have breakfast as we left so early) I requested 85% of our excursion refunded as we did enjoy Monkeyland. We got back half. Both my husband and I have meds to take with food and I was grateful for the snacks I packed “just in case” in my purse since we missed lunch. Overall, I understand the weather was out of anyone’s control and I would rather be safe. Monkeyland was great to see the Monkeys but again, not as expected. Still fun. The rest of the day/excursion was disappointing. Not what we hoped for. We were given the option to rebook but we are leaving in 2 days and the specific excursion is not offered again before we leave.
