A Taste of Puerto Morelos

As a former professional surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean and the vibrant cultures that thrive along its shores. So when I heard about the Puerto Morelos Taco Tour, I knew it was a must-do. The promise of authentic Mexican tacos, a tequila tasting, and the charm of a small fishing town was too tempting to resist.

The tour kicked off with a visit to Mariscos Don Kito, a local favorite known for its seafood tacos. As someone who spends a lot of time in the water, I have a particular fondness for seafood, and these tacos did not disappoint. The fish taco, in particular, was a revelation. Even for someone like me, who isn’t usually a fan of fish, it was a standout. The combination of fresh ingredients and expertly balanced flavors made it a memorable start to the tour.

Culinary Delights and Ocean Views

Our next stop was Mi Pueblo Hokum, a restaurant that was as stunning as it was welcoming. The ambiance was perfect for savoring the slow-roasted pork tacos, a traditional dish that was both tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Unfortunately, my phone had died by this point, so I couldn’t capture the beauty of the place, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in Puerto Morelos.

The final restaurant on our tour was Boquinete, located right by the ocean. The view was breathtaking, and the fresh fish tacos were the perfect accompaniment to the serene setting. My partner, who joined me on this adventure, declared these tacos his favorite of the day. As we enjoyed our meal, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to explore such a beautiful part of the world.

Sweet Endings and Spirited Tastings

No culinary tour would be complete without a sweet treat, and Panna y Cioccolato delivered with their artisanal ice cream. I sampled a few flavors before settling on Cheese Ball, a unique cream cheese-flavored ice cream that was surprisingly delightful. It was the perfect palate cleanser before our final stop: a tequila tasting.

The tequila tasting was both informative and enjoyable. Our host shared insights into the production process and what distinguishes a good tequila. While there was a slight sales pitch vibe, the quality of the tequila spoke for itself. It was a fitting end to a day filled with delicious food, stunning views, and the warm hospitality of Puerto Morelos.

Despite a rocky start with a less-than-ideal greeting and a bit of a wait, the tour was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Jordan, was knowledgeable and friendly, making the day even more enjoyable. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend the Puerto Morelos Taco Tour. It’s a delightful way to immerse yourself in the local culture and cuisine.
