Herping Tour - Gill was an amazing guide! He explained the history of the Yucatán and shared his immense plant knowledge with us along the tour. We saw snakes, tarantulas, anoles & scorpions. Great guide and a great tour.

Jungle adventure with a real expert - Great adventure in the jungle at night. Gill has incredible knowledge of the local fauna and plants. His explanations combined Western science and Mayan traditional knowledge. We saw a grey fox, common nighthawk, toad, gecko, leaf cutter ants, tarantulas, wolf spiders and heard owls. Highly recommended!

It was great - We had a great time exploring the flora and fauna of Yucatan at night. We managed to spot a coral snake, a few spiders and tarantulas, toads and more. Learned a lot for the local plans and how are they used.
We had the privilege to be the only two on the tour done by two passionate biologists.

- Gill was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the culture and natural history. We found quite a few different species of insects, amphibians and reptiles. I had to cut my trip short due to flight plans. If i had more time we would probably have been out longer. Overall a great experience so you want to find reptiles he is your guy and your best bet!

MUST TRY Reptile & Amphibian Lovers - To start, we came as a couple. We were on our honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen and we didn’t plan on going herping but came across this listing and loved it! We both came in already knowing what kind of reptiles we’d like to see such as certain snakes, micro-geckos, etc.
Everything about the trip went to well! It was fun, exciting, and Gill was very knowledgeable. He knew not only the names of the plants and reptiles we saw but also the history behind it all. For example , we learned about a tree we saw along the way that was specifically used for a traditional dish to smoke meat inside a ground oven. We learned about herbal medicines used by the locals years back and how a poisonous tree had an antidote tree next to it.
He took us to a cenote that had lots of anoles and frogs in the area and spiders as well. We came in during the start of the dry season and hear are some of the things we saw
-
some frogs, a thirst snake, lots of scorpions, a milk frog, ghost anoles, some brown anoles, lots of birds, a pigmy owl, a blunt head snake, large crickets and cicadas, butterflies/moths, crazy looking caterpillars etc etc
Expect this trip to be a mix of learning about local traditions involving nature and learning a lot about birds , reptiles, amphibians, and more ! Gill spoke great English and was great at explaining everything. I will also recommend bringing some of your own supplies. Gill had provided us binoculars and snake hooks and had some lights with him for nighttime herping but we had already brought our own headlamps. Very grateful and fortunate to have this experience, definitely book if you are in PDC or Cancun area, there really isn’t a herpetological trip that compares to this unless you want to pay for those Cancun tourist traps .

Botanical Gardens Experience - We had the most INFORMATIVE tour of the Botanical Gardens in Puerto Morelos. Gills knows every single plant - their origins - and how they were used in Mayan times. He is SO passionate about sharing his knowledge. It’s a delight to spend time with him.

If you want to get out... - If you want to get out into unexplored parts of the jungle and see the landscape up close with a super knowledgeable guide, this is the tour to do! The weather made seeing many species of reptiles a little difficult but even just the plants and insects of the jungle (as well as a few bats and foxes) made this an outstanding trip. The highlight was definitely seeing the stars. The area had so little light pollution and the night was clear that we saw more stars than i've ever seen anywhere in the world. Well worth the trip and fantastic service from our guide. Can't way to come back and do it again.
