Day 1 – Welcome to Tambopata
Upon arrival, travelers will be greeted at the airport or bus station and transported to the lodge. The journey includes a 25-minute drive through Puerto Maldonado, passing a quaint local community where parrots and macaws are often seen. At the lodge, guests will be shown to their private rooms with views of the Tambopata River.

Connect with the Jungle
After a brief rest, enjoy a one-hour introductory walk through the tropical rainforest, led by an expert local guide. Along the trails, encounter ancient trees over 500 years old and observe wildlife such as toucans, orioles, parrots, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, and more. This is the first chance to experience the enchanting Amazon Rainforest.

Savor a delicious traditional Amazonian lunch, freshly prepared with local ingredients.

Sunset, Caimans & Capybaras
At 3:30 p.m., board a boat to navigate the Tambopata River and enjoy the stunning colors of the Amazonian sunset. Relax on the comfortable boat with panoramic seats while searching for sloths and tropical birds along the riverbanks. As night falls, use flashlights to spot white caimans, capybaras, and herons near the shores. There’s a 90% chance of seeing capybaras, the largest rodent in the world. Return to the lodge for a hearty Amazonian dinner, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle night.

Day 2 – Wildlife in the Heart of Lake Sandoval
At 5:00 a.m., enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on an unforgettable excursion to Lake Sandoval, one of the most beautiful spots in the Tambopata National Reserve. This spectacular mirror-like lake, stretching over 3 kilometers, is renowned for its incredible biodiversity and breathtaking scenery. Take a 1 hour and 20-minute boat ride to the entrance of Lake Sandoval. After checking in at the park ranger station, begin a 3-kilometer (approximately 2-mile) hike through the rainforest leading to the lake — home to piranhas and considered one of the largest and most biodiverse lakes in the Tambopata Reserve. After the walk, the guide will provide a rowboat for a tranquil exploration of the lake, where a great variety of birds and primates can be observed, including Hoatzins (prehistoric birds), cormorants, jacanas, herons, eagles, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, black capuchins, tamarins, and sloths. With a bit of luck, a family of giant river otters (up to 2 meters long) — an endangered species — and the largest black caiman ever recorded, measuring more than 4 meters in length, may be spotted. Return to the lodge for a well-deserved Amazonian lunch.

Return to the City – End of the Tour
In the afternoon, around 2:00 p.m., it will be time to pack belongings and return to Puerto Maldonado, where guests will be dropped off at the airport or bus station, marking the end of the Tambopata adventure.
