Arrival and First Impressions

The moment I stepped off the plane onto Baltra Island, I was enveloped by the unique charm of the Galapagos. The air was crisp, carrying with it the promise of adventure and discovery. The opportunity to explore this living laboratory, where evolution unfolds in real-time, was a chance I couldn’t pass up.

Our journey began with a transfer to Santa Cruz Island, where we were greeted by the sight of giant tortoises ambling through the lush greenery. These ancient creatures, with their slow, deliberate movements, seemed to embody the timelessness of the islands. At the Charles Darwin Research Station, I was in my element, surrounded by fellow conservationists dedicated to preserving the unique biodiversity of the Galapagos. The breeding center for giant tortoises was a highlight, offering a glimpse into the meticulous efforts to ensure the survival of these iconic animals.

Island Hopping and Wildlife Encounters
