• PS PR2 - Vereda Do Pico Castelo - The journey begins at the Cannon viewpoint, where one can choose from various paths leading to the Picnic area atop Pico Castelo. After a brief pause and capturing numerous photos, the trek continues towards Pico Facho. This walk offers a glimpse into the diverse landscapes and terrains of the peak, showcasing the extensive efforts made over the years to stabilize the peak and the tree planting on what was once a barren summit.
• Pico Do Facho - The path here becomes more leisurely as it encircles the peak. Water erosion has significantly influenced the mountain’s shape, carving out the soft, almost sandy rocks. The trail varies from wooded paths to open fields, offering stunning views. Together with Pico Castelo, it provides a complete visual panorama of the island. Each season presents a unique experience, from lush greens in winter to sandy browns in summer.

Enjoy a relaxed and informative walk tailored to your preferred pace, with no pressure. Our friendly guides are eager to help you make the most of your experience. After picking you up, we head up cobbled roads to the starting point at the Canon Miradouro. From there, we explore one of the 9 km of trails on Pico Castelo, ensuring you experience a different side of this mountain. You’ll walk along stone terraces and wooden paths until reaching the picnic area at the summit. Here, we take a break to use the facilities and enjoy a drink before descending a different path to the Vereda around Pico Facho.

This path is generally flatter but offers equally stunning views, with water erosion beautifully sculpting the slopes. The walk transitions from shaded trees to open fields, offering new sights at every turn. The remnants of centuries-old farming are still visible, even though people left years ago and crops are no longer cultivated. Beyond our magnificent beach, if we’re fortunate, Madeira may appear on the horizon.
