Feel free to request your driver to stop for a restroom break or to enjoy a coffee or cappuccino. During the journey, you will have the opportunity to admire renowned sites such as Montecassino. Upon arrival, you can explore the archaeological site independently or join your guide for a two-hour private tour.

  Ancient Herculaneum, destroyed in 79 AD, is famous for its tragic history, closely tied to Pompeii. This open-air marvel offers a truly unique experience. According to legend, Herculaneum was founded by the mythical hero Hercules after his return from Iberia. Initially influenced by local settlements, it later absorbed Samnite, Greek, and Etruscan influences before falling under Roman control. Buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, it began to be uncovered from 1710, as the Bourbon kings initiated excavations. Over the years, archaeological efforts became more systematic, revealing extensive parts of the city to visitors and scholars. The area currently open to visitors was largely excavated between 1927 and 1958.

  The archaeological site of Pompeii covers 66 hectares, with 49 hectares already excavated. In 1858, the excavation director Giuseppe Fiorelli introduced the idea of dividing the city into regions, or neighborhoods, and insulae, or blocks. The names of the houses were given by archaeologists over the years, based on various criteria. The buried city was rediscovered in the 16th century, but systematic exploration began in 1748 under King Charles III of Bourbon. This continued throughout the 19th century, leading to the most recent excavations, restorations, and enhancements of the ancient city, revealing its remarkable architecture, sculptures, paintings, and mosaics.

The exclusive and customizable tour offers transportation in a luxury Mercedes van with an English-speaking driver, providing a round-trip service from your hotel in Rome to either Pompeii or Herculaneum.
The driver will meet you at your hotel, Airbnb, train station, or any of Rome’s airports.
After a drive of approximately two hours, you will reach your chosen destination.
You have the option to select which of the renowned archaeological sites to explore: Pompeii or Herculaneum.
Additionally, you can choose to extend the tour to visit both sites.
You may explore the site independently or request our office to arrange a private licensed guide for a two-hour tour.

The fee for the licensed tour guide for the two-hour private walking tour is €150.00 in cash for the entire group. Tickets are not included, but your guide will assist you in purchasing them.

Following the two-hour tour, you will have a lunch break before returning to Rome. Your day trip concludes at your hotel, where your driver will drop you off after approximately eight hours.
