Bellagio - The Pearl of the Lake,
Bellagio is a charming gem situated on the promontory that divides the two southern branches of Lake Como, leading to the cities of Como and Lecco.
It is one of the most glamorous and romantic spots in Lombardy and Italy. Known as the “Pearl of Lake Como,” it boasts a vibrant historic center, stunning gardens (such as the parks of Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi), delightful neighborhoods (like Pescallo or San Giovanni), and much more.
Its central position makes Bellagio ideal for exploring beautiful nearby towns like Varenna, Tremezzina, or Menaggio, all easily accessible by boat!
- Varenna - Varenna is a picturesque and traditional village located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, Italy. It is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience one of the most typical and serene towns on the lake.
This quaint village, where the traditions of the past (especially fishing) are still alive, features elegant villas with botanical gardens (such as Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi) and offers beautiful walks through history and nature (Castle of Vezio and Sentiero del Viandante).
- Villa Carlotta - Villa Carlotta, situated on the shores of Lake Como near the delightful village of Tremezzo, is a masterpiece of natural and architectural beauty.
Constructed in the 17th century by order of the Marquis Giorgio Clerici, in the then-popular Baroque style, it is surrounded by a magnificent Italian-style garden. Today, the villa serves as an art museum where visitors can admire numerous masterpieces acquired by the owners over the centuries, including sculptures by Antonio Canova and paintings by Francisco Hayez.
- Villa del Balbianello - Villa del Balbianello is perched on a wooded promontory, offering a magical view of Lake Como. This elegant, romantic 18th-century mansion and its splendid garden have welcomed writers, scholars, and travelers, including Count Guido Monzino, the villa’s last owner.
- Isola Comacina - Isola Comacina is the only island on Lake Como, renowned for its stunning panoramic views and lush Mediterranean vegetation. It is among the most fascinating archaeological sites in northern Italy from the early Middle Ages and an artistic hub thanks to the three artist houses built by Pietro Lingeri in a rationalistic style.
Comacina Island is approximately 600 meters long and 200 meters wide, covering a total area of 6 hectares, mostly adorned with lush Mediterranean vegetation. Olives, linden, and laurel, along with species like hackberry, hornbeam, and black mulberry, dominate the landscape, which, together with the surrounding area, is known as Zoca de l’Oli, defining the corner of Lake Como characterized by a mild climate favorable for olive cultivation and local oil production.
-
San Giovanni, Bellagio - San Giovanni is a village located on the western shore of Lake Como in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Nestled between the towns of Bellagio and Menaggio, San Giovanni offers visitors a serene and authentic experience along the picturesque shores of Lake Como.
San Giovanni is blessed with breathtaking views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the lakefront, take boat rides on the lake, or simply relax and soak in the tranquil beauty of the water and the landscape. - I Giardini di Villa Melzi - The Gardens of Villa Melzi d’Eril, among the most beautiful in Europe, are situated along the shores of Lake Como near Bellagio, harmoniously integrated into the hilly landscape between the two branches of the lake.
Within the Gardens stand the Villa, the Chapel, and the Orange Greenhouse (or Orangérie), now a Museum of great historical significance. The Gardens of Villa Melzi d’Eril are a splendid example of the Neoclassical style and have been declared a national monument.
