About Lance Mackey’s Comeback Kennel

Born and raised in Alaska, Lance Mackey is a world-wide renowned dog-sledding champion. Some of his many accomplishments include being the first person to win the Iditarod and Yukon Quest, another challenging 1,000 mile dog sled race, in the same year for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.

Mackey even grew up around dog mushing. His father, Dick Mackey was one of the founders of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race, and won the 1,200 mile race in 1978. Mackey’s older brother, Rick Mackey, also won the race in 1983.

Though he has overcome great adversity to succeed, Mackey’s greatest accomplishment is being honored for taking the best care of his dogs.
