If you have a Death Wish, Take This Ride - You would expect that Tripadvisor would represent itself with upstanding travel services that they tout, however in this case it was a total misrepresentation of what was being offered, and more importantly, it was a direct danger to ones personal safety. Booked this “car service” ride from Siem Reap to Phnom Pehn, about a 5-plus hour drive. The Tripadvisor ad stated that an “English Speaking Driver”, “Water Provided” and a “Vehicle” was to be provided. None of it, except the “vehicle”, was provided. The driver spoke no English, water was not provided and the vehicle was probably the drivers own personal vehicle, an SUV type. It smelled like a-s. He put our luggage on top of a spare tire in the rear luggage area of the vehicle which had its “check Engine” light illuminated the entire trip. Very reassuring indeed. The most distressing thing was the driver himself. First, let me explain that in Cambodia everyone drives crazy, actually more like dangerously. Our driver was no exception. He was no professional, he was dangerous! Speeding, tailgating within inches , passing on the median line directly into oncoming traffic at distances that you would never think to do, and constantly honking. Trust me, as a New York City driver I will admit that we can drive a bit crazy, but not dangerously. This driver even scared the crap out of me and my wife. My recommendation? Fly from Siem Reap to Phnom Pehn. You are pretty much guaranteed to arrive alive. Taking this driving service? Not so much. I have protested this trip charge with my credit card company. Misrepresentation and a threat to your life is something I will not pay for.
