Great way to experience South Africa in one day - This tour offers a brief multi-dimensional experience of South African history, culture and political situation, all in one day, which is what we were looking for having only a couple of days to spend in Johannesburg.
You get to experience the journey of the original inhabitants as well as migrants like the Afrikaans, the different governments, the most famous South Africans like Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu and presidents, and the homes of the rich, middle class end the poorest residents close up.
Our guide Joshua was engaging and shared a wealth of knowledge with us.
One reason for choosing this particular tour among so many others was that it includes both Pretoria, Soweto and downtown Johannesburg which is essential to get the full picture, and importantly it excludes the Appartheid Museum.
During a packed full day tour, we recommend NOT making the Appartheid Museum one of the stops. You will need much more time to experience everything there by yourself, including all the great permanent and temporary exhibitions. We went there by ourselves the day before using Bolt, which was very easy, convenient and cheap. They recommend a 1 hour or 2 hour tour through the museum. We ended up spending half a day, and there was still more there to explore.
We highly recommend this tour and our guide Joshua.
