The Waterfall Safari with Parque Hotel, Pr.Figueiredo, Amazonas is well worth the challenge - Presidente Figueiredo, north of Manaus, is renowned for a very large number of waterfalls; they are thought scattered within a large area of rainforest and lake Balbina. One-dayTours are easily arranged from Manaus; but I had decided on an economy trip for several days within the area to explore the less trodden paths. The bus station is less than one km from Parque Hotel Corredeira do Uroba. The first impression of the blue wooden front at the end of the dust road was one of skepticism; but the marbled reception area was very welcoming; there's a large Bluewater pool in the garden; and the receptionist Levi, who is also the Tourguide, is both friendly, effective and very good with Google translate. In spite of twin-bed, air-condition, Tv and fridge, the room and clean bathroom was economy class. Upon exploring the area, the river Corredeira do Urobui at the bottom of the garden, the Igapo-influenced river under the bridge, and the many inviting rainforest inceptions everywhere, I expressed my excitement. And Levi arranged a guided tour into three different waterfall areas the next morning. The price was the same as the one I would have paid in Manaus. After breakfast, we left by car for the first O Parque Municipal das Orquideas (public). Levi guided me along the rainforest path while he in Brazilian pointed out the trees, Bromeliads, lianas and insects. It was a laid back tour without elevations which ended at the waterfall; but the temperature reached 25-30 degrees C and I was drenched when we arrived back at the car. My advice is to bring as many dry t-shirts as the waterfalls you visit. The following tour was a group with guide for the Caverna Refugio do Maroaga (Private Park). A very hilly path which initially meandered through dense forest into the caves ( rather busy and thus not much animal life but "muitaFloresta". From the first cave we waded in the creek around the cliff into a deep-lying pond Gruta da Judeia with water drizzling down the roots from above - a spot for cooling in the shallow waters. The return trip was challenging, up a steep hill. Reaching the top we paused and as a greeting from the Rainforest a bright orange crested Guianan Cock of The Rock landed near our resting site. This illustrious bird is the signature of the whole district famous for its mating dance in leks ( look it up). It was a several hour walk and arriving at the parking lot we were exhausted. Levi had arranged a third tour to The Iracema falls ( Private) but I had had enough of Pr. Figueiredo Rainforest and waterfalls for one day. (Public parks are free; Private are a small extra fee). My conclusion is: If you want a fantastic, beautiful and brutal safari through the Rainforests of Pr. Figueiredo then talk to Levi at Parque Hotel; he's your man!!!

This trip was certainly not worth... -
This trip was certainly not worth the $132 per person. The waterfall are nice but nothing amazing or that large. The best part was the included lunch. But as far as scenery goes, this trip certainly lacked the promised views. Honestly, the trip should cost about $40USD for what it is.
