- Břevnov Monastery - Beer Break - (1st Beer) The Břevnov Monastery follows the Benedictine tradition and was founded in 993 by Adalbert of Prague. Adalbert left Bohemia in 994 due to disputes with the ruler. A new era began with Czech Duke Bretislav I, who initiated the construction of a stone church and secured the remains of Gunther of Bohemia, a monk from Niederaltaich Abbey in Bavaria. Filial monasteries were established at Broumov and Police in northern Bohemia.
