• Cathedral of Porvoo - Originally a Catholic church, now a Lutheran one from medieval times. The stone church was likely constructed in the 1450s, and the ground beneath served as a graveyard for Porvoo’s citizens for centuries. Observe the ancient wall paintings, find dates on the lanterns, learn the purpose of the ship under the ceiling, ponder the statue of Alexander I in the church, and admire this historic Christian church that Finland holds in high regard. • The Devil’s Stairs - Walk to the Chapter House, marking the border of the old town, see the first house where J.L. Runeberg lived, and reach the Devil’s Stairs! Despite the name, these stairs were naturally formed, not man-made. Experience the tranquility of Porvoo and gain insight into Finnish life and character.
• Edelfeltin patsas - Edelfelt had a keen eye for Porvoo, capturing street after street in his paintings. These artworks tell no stories, but offer a pure glimpse of 19th-century life.
• Gallery Vanha Kappalaisentalo - Enter a house from 1763 to view a temporary exhibition by Finnish artists. Explore the inner yard and discover how business was organized in Porvoo during the 18th century. Visits are subject to opening hours.
• Porvoo Old Town - Stroll along Jokikatu and Valikatu, visit souvenir shops, admire historic houses, and enjoy some quick shopping. Cross the new bridge to admire the view of the Old City from the other side, and take a look at Simolin House and the local coffee roastery.
