Guimarães, often referred to as the birthplace of Portugal, is where we’ll visit the grand Guimarães Castle, a medieval stronghold from the 10th century, to explore its rich history. We’ll then head to Paço dos Duques de Bragança, a 15th-century palace that once housed the Portuguese royal family. This palace, with its remarkable architecture and period furnishings, provides a captivating glimpse into the aristocratic life of that era. Our journey continues to Braga, a city steeped in tradition and spirituality. Here, we’ll visit the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, a renowned pilgrimage site known for its monumental staircase and surrounding beautiful gardens. Ascending the steps offers a unique and fulfilling experience, with breathtaking views of the city. In Braga’s historic center, you’ll have the chance to wander through charming streets, marvel at baroque architecture, and visit the magnificent Braga Cathedral, one of Portugal’s oldest.
