Exploring Porto’s Football Legacy: A Family Day at Dragão Stadium

As a family of football enthusiasts, our visit to the Dragão Stadium in Porto was a thrilling experience. From exploring the stadium grounds to the interactive FC Porto Museum, it was a day filled with excitement and learning.

A Day at the Dragão Stadium

When planning our family trip to Porto, I knew that a visit to the Dragão Stadium would be a must. As a family of football enthusiasts, the idea of exploring the home of FC Porto was thrilling. The stadium, with its five-star UEFA rating, promised an experience that would be both educational and entertaining for my three kids.

Upon arriving, we had an hour to spare before our scheduled tour, so we took the opportunity to explore the stadium’s exterior. The kids were fascinated by the architecture, and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the stadium grounds. We even popped into the stadium shop, where the kids were excited to see all the FC Porto merchandise. A quick stop at the coffee shop for a refreshing drink was a perfect way to relax before the tour began.

Exploring the Stadium

The stadium tour itself was a self-guided experience, which I found to be quite liberating. While there was an option for an audio guide, we decided to explore on our own. The kids loved the freedom to roam and take photos at their own pace. We visited various areas of the stadium, including the stands and the pitch, which was a real treat for my little footballers.

Though the tour wasn’t guided, we managed to gather some interesting tidbits by chatting with one of the staff members. They were more than happy to answer our questions, and it added a personal touch to our visit. While the tour might not have been as informative as some others we’ve experienced, the sheer excitement of being in such a renowned stadium made up for it.

The FC Porto Museum: A Highlight

After the stadium tour, we headed to the FC Porto Museum, and this is where the experience truly shone. The museum was a treasure trove of history and technology, offering an interactive journey through the club’s illustrious past. My kids were particularly captivated by the hologram of the club’s president, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, and the various exhibits showcasing the team’s achievements.

The museum was not only informative but also engaging, with plenty of interactive displays that kept the kids entertained. We spent a good amount of time exploring the exhibits, and the film near the end was a delightful surprise. It was a unique blend of history and creativity that left us all in awe.

In conclusion, while the stadium tour itself might not have been the most informative, the overall experience, especially the museum, made it worthwhile. For families with a love for football, the Dragão Stadium offers a memorable day out. Just be sure to allocate plenty of time for the museum, as it’s truly the highlight of the visit.
