A memorable day in the Douro Valley - We enjoyed a memorable day with our guide, Luis Matus. Luis was professional and very knowledgeable. On our way to the Douro Valley, we stopped in the charming town of Adamente for a look around before arriving at our first winery and lunch. Lunch was absolutely delicious with the different pairings. After lunch we drove to the Douro for a 50 minute boat ride on the Douro and two more tastings. We then drove to the Quinto do Val Moreira. Quinto do Val is a unique winery in the most beautiful setting. We learned a lot about port wine during the tastings and why Quinto do Val is such a special place. We highly recommend this tour. It will be even better with Luis as your guide!

Best Douro Valley tour! - Our group of 11 had a wonderful day with Slimmy- rock band star by night and tour guide by day! Started our day with a winery tour at the oldest port wine location -Quinta sau luz with 3 tasting, then a one hour boat ride on the duoro river followed by a lovely and entertaining local lunch at another winery. More wine and port. Grilled meats. Eat and drink as much as you like. Slimmy then learned each of names and played our fav songs. On the way back after our Power Nap? Did a singalong with Slimmy! Wonderful guide and David was an excellent hairpin driver! Weather was perfect with blue skies! Run by living tours. Thank you for a great day- right balance of things to see and do! Would highly recommend! Added plus the tour bus had free wifi and usb and c chargers for each seat! Bring your charger cord!

Must-do Porto Tour - This tour was the highlight of our visit to Porto. Luis drove us and three other couples to the wine region where we visited wineries, sampled Porto and the wine, and enjoyed a delicious lunch Luis offered information, explanations and descriptions of everything along the way. We also enjoyed a brief Douro River cruise. I highly recommend this tour.

Mixed feelings - Just wanted to make people aware that even though you booked the same tour as others because they have multiple buses the experience is not the same. Our trip was a little disappointing, on our river cruise we didn't get a commentary actually we didn't get a hello or good bye while others were greeted and had a full commentary. We weren't told about the walking tour the next day while others were. Due to the power outage we didn't get the advertised lunch or tasting and No mention of renumeration for this. So while our experience was disappointing, others were given the full tour.

Long day with beautiful views but did not meet expectations - I was really excited for this tour but it did not meet my expectations. We left Porto at 8 AM and headed into the Duro Valley. We stopped at a beautiful small town, Amaranthe, on the way to the first estate to grab coffee and snacks. I brought my own food too because of how long the day was. The first winery was beautiful but the tasting was rushed and honestly not the best! I wanted to spend time in the winery shop to potentially ship home some port but we did not have the time. After the first estate, we took a boat cruise through the Duro valley which was the best part! We could buy wine on the boat for about 3 Euros a glass. We then got to the 2nd winery and didn't eat food again until about 2 PM. By this time, many of the tourists were very intoxicated, loud, and took away from the whole experience. After that tour we headed home which was about a 2 hr bus ride. It was a very long day and I would book a different tour if I did it again. Our tour guide Ricardo was really great. friendly, helpful and I learned a lot about the Duro Valley and wine. The other issue I herd from other tourists on the tour is that they thought we were going to 3 wineries but we only went to 2.

Not much interest even if the area is pretty - An almost entire day spent in a very uncomfortable small bus (very tight squares). A stop for a “cruise” that takes us from A to B then U-turn and takes us back to À to take the bus that drops us off at .... B! A very friendly guide but who does not accompany us either in the small town of Amarante where we stop before 9am for 45 min, neither in the wineries nor on the small boat. In the 1 st area we are accompanied by 10 minutes by a guide of the area of which we do not understand a word. He explains almost nothing and directs us to a table where 3 wines are already served and goes! Then we wait 35 minutes, in the lobby of the estate, because pouring rain impossible to put our nose outside, because the schedule of the bus must be respected. In the second area, a semblance of a meal (don’t expect anything exceptional) served lukewarm and with unlimited wine but so bad that you won’t help yourself (there are very good Portuguese wines though). Half an hour for a presentation and tasting of port wine: finally we have a good time and we learn something about this famous wine. Half an hour for a day from 7:40 to 17:30 and 105 euros, sincerely pass your way.

Disappointed - This was the day of the big powercut and so it abruptly came to an end at lunch time, therefore I can only comment on the first part of the day of which I was disappointed. I didn't realize just how much of the day is sitting in the bus as the distances are far from Porto. I hated the cheesy American party music played during the most of the journey. I would have loved to hear Portuguese music instead. I hated the "entertainment" gimmicks including playing Titanic music just before the boat trip or Mission Impossible music for driving up a steep windy road. It all felt cheap and tacky. I would have loved to have learnt more about Portuguese culture during the long bus journey, more about the wine and food culture, but we only got a few "show and tell" explanations suitable for children. I wanted the trip to be fun but not dumb! Maybe this trip was dumbed down for the young American audience? I have done similar trips in other countries and this fell way short. I came away without the promised lunch, afternoon wine tasting and with no additional knowledge at all.

Go in a private vehicle and enjoy yourself. - We request the guide in Spanish. The guide we were assigned didn’t speak Spanish at all well, plus English speakers were assigned to the tour. The guide also did not speak English well. So between trying to speak two languages and none well, few stories, little emotion in the stories, and very low enthusiasm, it was a very poor script for the price paid. On the other hand, we left late and we were rushed too much at the first stop. Very little chance to enjoy the tasting and the scenery... a slide. The lunch restaurant was great. He ate and drank well and the restaurant guide was very good and spoke good English and Spanish. 5/10
