Not to forget, marked. - It was a very pleasant and enlightening tour, with good historical information and, also information about the wines of the Douro Valley, which is very beautiful.

Douro River cruise - Think before you book - Ok. So the meeting point was slightly vague as the address given was not exact, albeit not too far. Departure was delayed 30 minutes. The crew spoke hardly a word of English. We were on the boat approximately 9 hours, far too long, 90 minutes of which was spent going through 3 massive locks. Quite an experience. The scenery is stunning most of the way. The tour organisers did not receive our meal preferences from Viator. By luck they managed to find some cod and mixed vegetables for my wife along with soup. I got soup but ended up eating cold mixed vegetables NOT a vegetarian meal as requested. There was very little time at the port winery as everything else was so slow, it was a whistle stop tour. Then a 2 hour coach drive back to Porto. The tour company representative was no more than ok, friendly but that was it. Anything other than a large bottle of water and some very average 3 euro bottles of wine had to be purchased. The only snacks available were a packet of crisps and ice cream to be purchased. Luckily enough the vineyard offered some snacks. Otherwise no real food available from lunch time until 9.20pm our return time , 45 minutes later than scheduled. Smoking was allowed on the deck but no ashtrays were available and the crew were apathetic to people throwing cigarette butts into the river. Terrible. So no I would not recommend this trip.

A catch tourists - A crowded boat for a long cruise without explanation, with an industrial breakfast and a very common lunch. Perhaps this outing is more neat outside the tourist period?
