- Porto Novo - Begin your journey with a pickup from your accommodation in Porto Novo or other specified locations, and travel through the mountains to reach Cova Natural Park.
- Cova - Crater - Make your first stop at Cova de Paúl, Cape Verde’s largest volcanic crater. Enjoy a panoramic view of the dormant volcano and the stunning landscapes of the vast, green plain within the crater, which serves as agricultural land. Embark on a 3.5-hour hike starting from 1,100 meters above sea level, where a lush oasis of vegetation thrives. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, take in the most breathtaking view imaginable: gaze over the impressive green valley of Paul below and the beautiful ocean view 10 kilometers away.
- Paul Tal - Next, begin the zigzagging descent along a stone path for 3 hours. As you descend, explore Cape Verde’s lushest valley, discover native flora and fauna, and enjoy scenic views of the island’s landscapes. You’ll also have the chance to see abandoned vineyards, sugar cane and banana plantations, as well as mango, avocado, and coconut trees. Experience the local rum-making process at a distillery and taste the renowned “grogue” (Rum production season is from January 1st to May 31st).
- Porto Novo - Finally, drive back through beautiful vegetation, passing by Sinagoga, Vila das Pombas, and Janela Village. The tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.

Highly recommended! - Beautiful walk with Leah. A nice, smart young girl, who could tell us so much and learn about the culture and nature of Santo Antao and Cape Verde in general. We enjoyed it!

Super Trekking Cova de Paúl with Edson - We were extremely pleased with the way the tour was conducted. The transport to and from the hotel worked great. Our guide Edson took exemplary care of us and his many explanations about the plant life enriched this tour.
Unqualified recommendation.

Great. - Incredible experience, with a guide who knew very well the history of Cape Verde as well as all the different types of plants etc. that we could see throughout the hike. Thanks to Rivaldin for allowing us to make the most of this experience. The restaurant at the end of the hike was very well placed, with huge portions of local dishes (1900 CVE for 3 people.)

Fabulous nature experience - This is the best way to enjoy nature in the green north of the island. The views were beautiful and will stay in your memory forever. The guide was very friendly and was happy to answer any questions we had - even if they were sometimes absurd. At the end of the tour we had lunch together, which we also really enjoyed. This tour is highly recommended.

Stunning views - The scenery was amazing! Edson was a great guide: he seemed to sense our pace; he was very informative. We had a wonderful lunch at a cafe he recommended. My legs were sore for days….we did it downhill, but it is frequently steep, with loose gravel over paving stones. Still, very do-able and totally worth it! Highly recommended.
