Vereda do Larano: Let’s hike!
After our “Warm-Up Hike,” we head east to Machico to tackle the Vereda do Larano trail. A lush green environment and the sea as a constant backdrop accompany us. We continue along the cliffs, enjoying spectacular views. Feeling a bit hungry? No worries. A small picnic with local snacks is prepared, and we’ll find the perfect spot to savor it.

A delightful picnic featuring local snacks has been prepared, and a perfect spot will be found to enjoy it.
- Please Bring a Backpack to pack your lunchbox for the picnic ( measurements 11cm X 12cm X 20cm)

- please be aware that the weather in Madeira is unpredictable, it has a sub tropical climate and can change unexpectedly during the day. That means sometimes paths or places are closed by the local authorities or it might be too dangerous to do the originally planned trip. Recommendation - I really enjoyed this tour. The guides were really really nice. We visited Pico Aieero and did a short hiking and then traveled to the countryside and did a longer hiking and in the end we visited a pub and could taste the regional poncha.

Amazing organisation and tour - This was an amazing experience!! So well organised - from the messages in the lead up to confirm details, the home made picnic lunch provided, the little stopovers for coffee and ponchos, and the AMAZING hikes. Richard and Katrin are friendly, Richard helped us through the hikes at our own pace and our group had an amazing day. Would definitely book more experiences through these guys!!

A hiking tour with friends! - The best way I can describe this tour is like spending the day with friends who live out of town. Richard and Katrin were very welcoming and attentive throughout the entire tour! The communication was clear and I was well-prepared with what I needed. We did the Stairway to Heaven first, so be prepared for a lot of steps going up and down, but we were rewarded with a nice espresso and a break after the hike. After the break we did the Larano hike, which was really nice and picturesque! They even included small lunch boxes for us to enjoy at the top of the hike with an amazing view. What better way to end the day than a poncha happy hour at a local place? Richard and Katrin planned an amazing itinerary and really took care of us from beginning to the end of the trip!

Amazing Hike with excellent guide - Stairway to Heaven was a perfect place to visit with moderate hiking. Amazing scenery.
Larano hike of 7 miles near Porto da Cruz, Madeira is challenging but not difficult. The hike was moderate with several turns where the trail became narrow. Several viewpoints are on the way. Stairways to Heaven was crowded even in mid-October, though worth it. Do take a layer as the weather changes quickly.
Our guide was a gracious host and keen on safety. A group of five multinational people had safe fun and worked out.
The tour was arranged at the last moment when partial access to Stairway to Heaven was closed due to recent fires. The tour operator took great care in selecting this hike because of the age difference and keeping us informed.
I have bad knees and the guide was extremely helpful during the descent. A packed lunch was provided during the hike. Our guide hosted the group with a cup of coffee at the start of the hike and then with drinks at the end. The hike is a must

A day in the clouds - We really enjoyed the hike. The trip was very well organised and the guide was very knowledgeable. He provided torches for the tunnels and a very tasty lunchbox. He was very patient and supportive with any members of the group who struggled. I would recommend this hike.
