The hours leading up to sunset provide the perfect opportunity for paddling on Casco Bay’s waters. The sky often bursts with vibrant colors, and the sea becomes smooth and tranquil. This excursion includes a relaxed paddle just far enough along the waterfront or into the islands to enjoy a sweeping view of the sun setting over the city as the group returns to East End Beach. This two-hour tour is suitable for paddlers of all skill levels, including beginners.
The specific route taken will be determined by weather conditions and the group’s preferences and experience, but the Sunset Tour typically begins by exploring Portland harbor’s waterfront, then heading into the open waters towards the islands of Casco Bay.
The tour will be canceled if there is persistent rain, strong winds, or other conditions that might hinder guests from having an enjoyable paddling experience. However, tours will proceed in light showers, cloudy skies, or cooler than usual temperatures.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each child under age 16 must paddle in a tandem kayak with an adult.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to check-in. Allow time for parking.
- Minimum age is 10 years old
- Most participants will be given tandem (two-person) kayaks unless they request a solo kayak
- Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. It is usually cooler on the water than on land.
