Jeff was a fantastic tour guide. He's very knowledgeable about the local area and its history. The views from the locations he took us to were phenomenal. I highly recommend this tour.

Jeff Davies runs a superb tour. It's obvious that he puts a lot of thought into his running commentary delivered as he drives. He has excellent printed materials and photographs to illustrate the points he is making, and this rich material deepens the understanding of what one is seeing and experiencing. The sites visited on this tour are remarkable in themselves, and Jeff's understanding of them really enhanced my appreciation of them, and of this part of our country. The topics ranged from historical to geological to environmental - all worthy of attention. My favorite part of the day, and the example which best illustrates the caliber of Jeff's service, came at the last stop of the tour. After 8 hours of hosting us through the countryside, Jeff hauled out a big black bag containing three tripods and viewing scopes so that we might catch sight of a pair of ospreys drifting in a valley below us. Really above and beyond! It was a great day, and I wouldn't hesitate one moment to set out again on another excursion with Jeff. He's top-notch! One further comment:. I had tried to book another tour with Eco-tours to the coast, but the schedule just didn't work out. Jeff was kind enough to direct me to another tour company so I could get to see the Northern Oregon coast before I head back to New York. Hope the day will be as rich as my experience with Jeff; it'll be hard to beat it.

The tour was very educational. Before visiting sites, Jeff would provide a running commentary on where we were going and what we were about to see. The use of visual aids was a great benefit to tour members. We found Jeff to be extremely knowledgeable about the ecology, history, plants, and wildlife of the area. We covered a lot of ground, but we did not feel rushed at any stop, except for perhaps at the Bonneville Dam and fish ladder. But, this could have been due to one tour member not returning to the van at the specified time. We highly recommend this ecotour to anyone wanting to learn about the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood environment.
