- We had an excellent time at Wildlife Habitat, we paid additional to feed the saltwater crocodiles which definitely made our experience. The staff facilitating our crocodile feed were enthusiastic and informative.

Fun with the family! - Loved the freedom the animals have in some of the exhibits to roam, and very obviously, petting the kangaroos was the highlight of it all for us Californians. I saw some animals I've never seen before and loved how cute they are!

A Must See in Port Douglas!! - We did the private tour with a wildlife specialist….that included breakfast! Our guide was Shannon, who was great! We had a nice seated breakfast before our tour began! The birds were all around! We visited all areas of the habitat, with feeding of several animals! The mama koala with a baby in her pouch was amazing….then on to the kangaroos! Some mamas had babies in their pouches, and more were already out of the pouch! The crocks were very large! Beautiful birds were found throughout the facility! The highlight was getting our photograph with Teddy the koala! Great visit!

Not to be missed! - One of the best zoos we have ever experienced. It was such a natural habitat for most of the animals and was beautifully done. There were wonderful interactive experiences for adults and children. So many beautiful birds flying about. There were mother kangaroos with joeys in their pouches that we were able to feed. Many wallabies as well. We felt fortunate to have had a photo taken with a lovely koala. So glad we discovered it. It wasn’t a tourist trap and a 10 out of 10!!!

Easy wandering around, viewing various animals and birds. - An interesting place to wander round...have been previously years ago and thought it was looking at bit tired (although renovations seem to be going ahead)) A great selection of wildlife to see close up and easy to walk around. I was thinking of doing the Swim with Crocodlies, but glad I didn't book it, as I got right up and close anyway in the viewing area.

Port Douglas Wildlife. - Lovely quiet time wandering through the enclosure. Smells a bit n the kangaroo enclosure which is probably understandable.

Great Wildlife Interactions and Keeper Talks but Disappointing Breakfast - Having visited “Breakfast with the Birds” at Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas four times since the 1990s, I’ve witnessed its evolution firsthand. While the sanctuary continues to offer unique wildlife encounters and has made some notable improvements, the breakfast itself has unfortunately declined in both quality and variety. The Good: One of the most impressive changes in recent years is the expansion of wildlife experiences. The addition of the glass-edged koala enclosure right beside the breakfast area is a real highlight. Being able to visit the koalas up close while enjoying breakfast adds a special touch that’s hard to find elsewhere. The presence of knowledgeable wildlife keepers who share fascinating facts and stories about the birds enriches the experience and gives it a strong educational focus. The sanctuary itself has also grown, with upgraded habitats and a greater emphasis on conservation and animal welfare. The swim with the salties tank is unique and I have not seen anything quite like it at any other Australian wildlife park. These improvements make the overall visit more meaningful and immersive. The entry ticket now allows guests to come back at any time in a five day window, which may be a plus for some wishing to spend more time with the wildlife. The Bad: Sadly, the breakfast offering has not kept pace with the improvements in wildlife experiences. The quality and variety of food has progressively declined with each visit. I fondly remember earlier visits when we were greeted with a glass of orange juice and champagne and a vibrant buffet brimming with tropical fruits like kiwi, passionfruit, papaya, and pineapple. There was an impressive selection of fresh pastries, croissants, and bakery treats, along with eggs cooked to order and a wide array of hot and cold dishes. The abundance and quality made breakfast feel like a true event. On our most recent visit, however, the breakfast was a shadow of its former self. The buffet has been replaced by a basic platter at each table consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, a pancake, and sausage, with a fruit selection limited to melons and apple. The bread was disappointingly hard and inedible, the bacon was overcooked and the sausages were cheap and incredibly salty. There were no pastries or croissants in sight. Even the juice selection was minimal, and the celebratory touch of champagne is now gone. Certainly not the culinary breakfast feast we were expecting! Given it’s meant to be a signature experience, the breakfast feels underwhelming and does not match the premium experience it once was. Overall, if your main motivation is the wildlife interaction, you’ll still have a wonderful time. But if you’re hoping for the lavish breakfast spreads of the past, you might be disappointed compared to the glory days of the original buffet.
