A truly amazing day in the rainforest and river - Such a fantastic day exploring the Daintree and Mossman Gorge. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough. Trent was our guide for a day which started with a traditional Kuku Yalanji smoking ceremony and explanation of how indigenous people have lived in and nurtured the rainforest. Then a fascinating and easy trek through the forest learning about the plants, trees and wildlife. After a great lunch in a locally run cafe we grabbed our inflatable rafts and walked up the Mossman river. Clear and clean in the most beautiful setting it was almost too perfect.. hard to believe it had been unchanged for up to a 180 million years. We drifted back to our start point in the most relaxing and fun way imaginable. Trent made the day hugely enjoyable, his humour, knowledge and constant eye on safety meant we were in great hands. Our kids - 11 and 13 - said it was the best day ever (I think about 11 feels the youngest you’d want to take given the walking and carrying of the raft. The river is shallow and feels very safe but you will want to be happy around water for this trip). Please sign up - you’ll be glad you did.

Friendly and superbly prepared guide, lifetime experience with an indigenous guide - Trent was a wonderful guide in our all day private tour, coming superbly equipped with towels, pastries, water bottles, chilled hand towels, insect repellent, bags and berries….no guide has ever been so well prepared! Picked up at 715 am we went on a private boat tour looking for salt water crocodiles, in a beautiful bucolic lush bayou. David the guide there was knowledgeable and friendly and thoughtful. Trent then took us to Mossman Gorge, where we explored the trail up the river and he kindly pointed out a huge golden orb spider and Boyd forest dragon lizard. We dipped our feet in the river in a newly formed beach in the wake of the December 2023 floods and cooled off. After an elaborate prix fixe lunch at the spectacular Treehouse Restaurant in the swanky Silky Oaks Lodge and Spa overlooking the river, Trent took us to Koko (sp?) beach where Brandon Walker, an indigenous guide, did an amazing walkthrough of various marine animals and plants and the medicinal and practical bush lore surrounding each. He showed us how to throw a spear and boomerang, then kindly took us back to his nearby family home, where he introduced us to his parents and kids and showed amazing hospitality. A lifetime experience!

Rainforest revealed - Great adventure for young and old. An introduction to Aboriginal culture, rafting down a rainforest rives and snorkelling to see small turtles and fish, and reallly instructive walk through the rainforest with a guide. That, plus pick-up and drop-off at the apartment, made for a brilliant day out.

Floating Through a Cathedral of Trees - I did a float on the Mossman and a tour of the gorge in October 2023 and it was beyond anything I had hoped for (and I had some pretty high expectations). Trent and Rene were AMAZING guides, and their love for and appreciation of the rainforest was evident from the moment we met. From horticulture to biology to just moments of quiet bordering on a near-spiritual experience, these two were exemplary guides whom I cannot laud enough. My thanks to them for a beautiful experience, one which I will carry with me for the rest of my days. In addition, Joe from Oasis Transport who drove me up to Cairns was fantastic. He went above and beyond to explain the history of the Tropical North, taking detours for scenic overlooks and telling stories rich with local color. Oh, and we did that all and were still ahead of schedule! Such a phenomenal experience. Make sure to go today!

Hiking & Drifting Fun - Great morning spent hiking up the Mossman River and then drifting back down again! Luckily the riverbed was mostly sand - if it had been rock it would have been really difficult. The guides were good, stopping frequently to allow breaks. More info on the local area would be good during the mini rests & would have been nice to click our rafts to belts so our hands were free. The drift down was really fun, I didn’t want it to end!
