Lovely snorkelling trip - We went out on the Calypso Low Islands snorkelling tour, not knowing what we were likely to see. As it turned out the water was very clear and the first marine animal we saw was a black tipped reef shark. The group of us entered the water from the shore together with our guide and we soon saw several different species of fish, another shark and three or four turtles. Everyone enjoyed it and then we had time for a guided walk around the small island. Travelling back to Port Douglas we had tea / coffee, muffins, biscuits and fruit. All in all it was a very enjoyable afternoon in company of Roman, Melody and the snorkelling guide (sorry, his name escapes me).

A super morning to the Low Isles - We had a super trip to the Low Isles. We had great staff both on the glass bottomed boat and on the Island. Perfect for us as I wanted to snorkel, but my husband did not. We saw turtles, small sharks, clam and lots of fish. We had lots of fun and there was interesting chat about the reef and the isles.

Amazing snorkeling so close to Port Douglas - Truly wonderful experience. Loved the glass bottom boat tour with knowledgeable interpretation and plenty of free time to snorkel off the beach. Crew were outstanding. Great diversity of fish and inner reef coral , and turtles, and baby reef sharks. Snacks provided at end was a great way to finish. Early start meant not too hot

Too expensive for an ordinary experience - The coral around the Low Isles has been badly destroyed by a cyclone 18 months ago so looks beige and grey. Fish life is minimal but still pretty just not worth the 4 hour investment. The Calypso vessel transporting guests to the reef is very basic and, as in our case with high winds and waves, the top deck was closed and there weren’t enough proper seats on the main deck to comfortably seat all the passengers and water from crashing waves smashed through the plastic drop down sides into the seating area. Imo the ticket price is way too high for the level of service which is no fault of the 3 person crew who did their very best under the circumstances to make the excursion as fun as possible.
