A Warm Welcome to Humberstone Ranch

As soon as we arrived at Humberstone Ranch, it felt like stepping into a storybook. The ranch, nestled in the heart of Port Colborne, is a haven for animal lovers and families seeking a unique bonding experience. Mike, the owner, greeted us with the warmth of an old friend, embodying the spirit of a true Canadian cowboy. His passion for the ranch and its inhabitants was evident in every corner, from the well-maintained barns to the lovingly named animals.

Our kids, aged 2 years and 6 months, were immediately captivated by the charming cast of characters that awaited us. Dolly and Reba, the cows, and Wilbur and Charlotte, the piglets, were just the beginning. Each animal had its own distinct personality, and it was a joy to watch our little ones interact with them. The animals were incredibly gentle, even when our baby had a moment of fussiness, the miniature horses remained calm and unbothered, showcasing their sweet nature.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the hands-on interactions with the animals. We started in the “magic garden,” where our kids delighted in hand-feeding the rabbits. The baby French Lop bunny and the two pure white rabbits were a hit, their soft fur and gentle demeanor making them instant favorites.

Next, we moved on to the goats, where Valentine and Clementine, the mini fainting twins, stole the show. Their playful antics and willingness to cuddle made them a highlight for our family. The piglets, Charlotte and Wilbur, eagerly welcomed head scratches and belly rubs, their joyful squeals adding to the fun.

The majestic Texas Longhorns were a sight to behold, and feeding them was an experience we won’t soon forget. The kids were fascinated by their impressive horns and the stories of their storied past. The Indian Runner Ducks, with their quirky upright stance, provided endless entertainment as they waddled around, eagerly accepting food from our hands.

Our family tried our hand at lassoing, a skill that proved to be both challenging and entertaining.
