Link up with the Tour Assistant to familiarize yourself with the itinerary and effortlessly learn to operate the glasses. All pathways and recreations have been curated by a squad of archaeologists and specialists to illustrate Pompeii’s lifestyle before the catastrophic event. Your Tour Assistant will guide and support you throughout the excursion.
The glasses generate holograms layered over the current ruins, unveiling the appearance of the key temples, dwellings, squares, theatres and structures prior to the 79 AD eruption (augmented reality) versus the present day (reality).
Roam among the decay with your intimate group, and take note that our tour caters to individuals of every age group!
- Once the tour is over and the augmented reality glasses are returned, it is possible to stay in the archaeological park and explore the site independently.
- The tour will take place regardless of weather conditions, so it is advisable to dress appropriately.
- This is a walking tour, make sure you have comfortable shoes.
- Children under 8 years of age can enter the park with a standard ticket, but cannot use the 3D technology.
- Arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the departure time.
- To obtain free tickets for children under 18, before the start of the tour, you must go to the ticket office and present an identification document confirming the age of the minor. In this way, the ticket office staff will verify the age of the minor and provide you with the free ticket.
- Augmented reality (AR) glasses can also be worn by participants who already use prescription glasses
- If you arrive after the scheduled departure time, please contact us.
- The tour does not include the suburban villas (Villa dei Misteri)
- If you are late, we will wait for a maximum of 5 minutes. Then the tour will begin out of respect for the other participants.

Great 3D experience - The tour guide Roberta was excellent, and the 3D experience was worth every penny! It was amazing to see how beautiful the city looked in all its colour.

My positive VR experience in Pompei - Very nice and informative tour, two guides who also had even more exciting information worth seeing virtually.
The view through the VR glasses was very impressive, especially in the forum.

Absolutely worth the extra money, added the extra dimension to fully appreciate the site - Very fascinating experience with a varied tour of the vast Pompeii with real added value from the AR glasses to make the site stand out more. Still gave a more complete impression of the ruins. Very happy that we did this on the last day, definitely an added value. Also a lot of additional information from the very competent guide. Definitely worth the money.

Highly recommended visual and audio enhancement to the Pompei experience. - What an excellent experience this was! Maria was knowledgeable and attentive from start to finish and the AR experience enhanced the historical imagery very nicely. Glad we decided to go for this option and would highly recommend it for families or individuals.

Amazing to see - I really enjoyed the tour and seeing what Pompeii used to look like in its glory days. I guide was wonderful, she tried to provide information and yet keep the group together for those of use who were older and a little slower. I appreciate her efforts, enthusiasm, knowledge and kindness.

Undoubtedly the best way to experience Pompii - We weren’t sure if the extra €30 would be worth it for the AR experience but it may have been the best money we ever spent.
Not only were the artists recreations incredible to see over the top of the ruins, giving so much more context than the city alone, but the tour is much smaller and more intimate than other tours. We were just 2 couples with the guide Francesca so we could all ask questions which was fantastic with how much she knew about Pompeii and it’s neighbouring cities during Vesuvius’ eruption!
P.s. go and see the Lupanar and Amphitheater when the tour is done, they are both amazing experiences. But I’m sure your guide will suggest it also!!

Fun and a different way of seeing Pompeii in its ancient glory - Roberta was a realy helpfull and freindly guide. The technology deffinatly added to the experience. As the site is so vast only a keyl areas are covered so allow time to continue the tour on your own. The equipment was clean and worked well.
I Have removed a mark as join could have been easier suggestion to AR Tours the guide to wear a hat or badge would have been good. Roberta worked very hard and made sure all guest was collected and had a great tour around the ruins

Almost what I've been hoping for - The AR experience was less than it appeared to be on the website. It was cool, but the tech was rough (didn't actually overlay in real time/space; I spent a lot of time spinning in circles trying to see and/or catch the images over where they belonged) and the glasses weren't clean to begin with. I'm glad I did it because it was novel and it did illuminate the past a bit. A proper guide with a picture book might do nearly as well though.

Ok tour but not the best - Guide was very knowledgeable. I was a few mins late due to train delays and she was very patient. VR headset was ok and gave a fair representation. The guide had a habit of walking ahead and talking but not directly to the group. We didn’t have headsets to hear this conversation and we missed a lot of what she was saying. She wasn’t attentive enough to where all group members were and making sure we all could hear her. It became very frustrating to constantly to try keep up with her to try to hear what she was saying. Headsets/ microphones linking to the guides conversation as we walked round would have made a big difference. Not sure I’d recommend this tour unfortunately.
