Vesuvius National Park - Transfer to Mt. Vesuvius.
Get on the top of the volcano to see the crater that still smokes slightly. Besides that, you will have a stunning panorama of the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, the edge of the Sorrento coast and more. The last 500m is a very steep uphill walk, and closed-in shoes are essential.
At the end of the visit, back to the main entrance of Pompeii Ruins, called Porta Marina Superiore.

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are the central figures of the 79 AD eruption. Discover more about this fascinating event with an exceptional full-day experience. Join a small group tour of Pompeii, guided by an Archaeologist who will highlight the site’s most significant features, such as the Forum – the city’s main square – along with key houses and buildings. In the afternoon, meet the hiking guide and depart in our minibus, accommodating up to 14 people, heading towards Mount Vesuvius. Upon arrival at the Vesuvius entrance, embark on a 30-minute steep walk to reach the crater’s summit. Hike the volcano to its peak, gaze into the still quiescent crater, and marvel at the stunning landscape and the breathtaking view of the Bay of Naples. After the excursion, you will be transported back to Pompeii, where the tour concludes.
- Children under 6 y.o. are not allowed
- Wear comfortable shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen in the summer
- If the Vesuvius is not accessible due to force majeur, the tour will include the visit of Herculaneum instead of Vesuvius
- Please be aware that from the entrance of Vesuvius first 30 minutes is a step walking to reach the crater
- Not recommended for travelers with mobility/walking issue or impairments

Vesuvius/Pompeii - great experience! - We very happy with the Pompeii and Vesuvius tour. We visited Vesuvius first and our guide Mario was excellent. He went at a comfortable pace for our 10-person group while stopping every so often to offer interesting insight into the volcano. We spent about two hours on the trails of Vesuvius. After arriving back in Pompeii we had an hour break for lunch then we spent a little over two hours touring the ruins with another fabulous guide. He was so knowledgeable of the ruins and its history while answering any questions thrown his way. 10 out of 10!

Fantastic tour of Pompeii and hike to the top of Vesuvius! - We booked this trip for my husband’s birthday as he always wanted to visit Pompeii.
We couldn’t have asked for more. Teresa was a fantastic guide and with her archeological background, was full of knowledge and interesting facts. She answered our questions easily and showed as excellent areas of the city of Pompeii. Ask for Teresa if you can!
We also thoroughly enjoyed the trip up Mount Vesuvius. Mario was a wonderful guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. The taxi ride up to the hiking point was a little nerve-wracking (lots of tight bends) but totally worth the views after the hike to the top of the volcano. Good walking shoes are a must as the ground is very slippery with loose sand in the summer. An excellent day; my husband loved every minute!

Pompei & Vesuvius with an Askos guide- a must for families to keep things moving! - We did the Pompei tour with the hike to Vesuvius- it was a full day but well worth it if you want to understand the significance of things you see. It does get quite windy/ chilly at the top of the volcano so bring a light jacket. It was a fabulous tour led by Mario ( hike) & Marciano ( Pompei) !! Family of 6 with ages 53-14 and all thought it was very worthwhile to have a guide!

Great experience touring Pompeii and hike to top of Vesuvius - It was a very nice trip. Both of our guides were very knowledgeable. Great history and walking tour of Pompeii followed by a nice trip and hike on Vesuvius. We loved the entire thing.

The walk is fairly... - The walk is fairly technical and intense, so be ready to have your heart pumping as you climb up. Wear sneakers.

A great day!!!!! - It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Therese’s “family” in Pompeii….. a great tour guide with a lovely personality and an obvious love and knowledge of Pompeii. She brought Pompeii to life for us and we learnt such a lot . A great tour that outweighed our expectations!
Mario led the afternoon in Vesuvius: another great guide who shared his knowledge freely and answered questions.
The tour up Vesuvius was very well led and paced appropriately for the group. Again we left the tour with a great understanding of Vesuvius and the surrounding area. We would thoroughly recommend.

Great guide at Pompeii - Really enjoyed Tonya (sp?) as our guide through Pompeii. She was knowledgeable and humorous. Our hiking guide did a good job too, but was difficult to understand sometimes.

Could’ve been better and cheaper - It was okay, but we were disappointed, it’s way too expensive for the quality the tour offered. In Pompeii, our tour guide Laura (we think) was talking into the microphone that had a super bad audio quality while we were walking, which is why we couldn’t understand what she was saying, her pronunciation wasn’t too good either and there were a lot of people around us. She didn’t wait for other people to catch up with the group so it was very rushed.
The second part was okay too, Mario was super nice but it was just an accompanied hike in the end and he gave us information that you could’ve found on the Internet too- not worth 114€. The driver was driving crazy and was on his phone the entire time while he was driving. We do not recommend for this price unfortunately.

More explicit information - The Pompeii tour was informative and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would recommend it highly. However, It should not be combined with hiking Vesuvius. The explanation of the hike was misleading and very vague. It was very hard to hike and it was difficult to climb especially in the heat of 100 degrees. There should be a warning of the level of difficulty of the hike. The guide was wonderful but the explanation of the hike/climb was not explicit enough as it was extreme for most people unless you were a seasoned hiker. I noticed that a lot of people abandoned the climb before reaching the top of Vesuvius. I recommend this as a separate tour and being mindful of the difficulty for any age and health issues before deciding to take this combined tour.
