- Guryongpo Japanese House Street - In Guryongpo, visitors will find Japanese houses where Japanese residents lived over a century ago, still preserved in their original state. The alleys of Jangandong in Guryongpo, which were Japanese residences during the colonial period, still exude a Japanese ambiance, reminiscent of a movie scene. In fact, several years ago, when a popular drama ‘Eyes of Dawn’ was filmed, the alleys of Jangandong in Guryongpo served as a filming location. There is a park created by the Japanese on the mountain behind the houses. By climbing the steep stone steps, one will reach the park, where the Yongwangdang is located, a place where prayers for sailors’ safety were offered. They constructed a group residence, adorned a park on the back mountain overlooking the ocean, and inscribed their names on the monuments. However, when the Japanese departed, they covered all the records with cement, turned the monuments upside down, and engraved the names of the Guryongpo patriots there.
