Meet Chef Alma and begin your Cooking experience. This hands-on cooking takes place in the family home of Chef Alma. Chef Alma will share with you the best of her own family recipes, as well as the finest of the traditional Mexican dishes. Join us for a Mexican food cooking class; and delight yourself with the best of the Mexican flavors. You will hand make your own corn tortillas, learn cooking techniques and you will indulge yourself into the delicious and more representative dishes of the Mexican cuisine. And the best of all: you eat what you cook during the class. All this in authentic “Mi Casa es su Casa” atmosphere

Cooking with love - I booked this experience for my parents and they had a great time.
Chef Alma was welcoming and they enjoyed being able to sample the items they prepared.
My mother is a picky eater but ended up trying most of the items and was very pleased with everything.

Can’t go wrong - Alma was fantastic! She was well prepared, timely and very knowledgeable about the PDC area and the culinary arts. The vibes were good and it was great to meet a few new friends from different parts of the globe. Would highly recommend.

AMAZING EXPERIANCE - My partner Paul and I spent a week in Playa del Carmen in March, and we’ve always wanted to try a cooking class. After doing some research online, we found Chef Alma’s class through Viator and decided to book it.
The entire experience was absolutely wonderful. Chef Alma’s friendliness, kindness, and welcoming approach made us feel instantly comfortable, and we enjoyed every moment of the class. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the kitchen was clean and beautifully set up, and everything was organized in a way that made the experience both fun and accessible.
All the ingredients provided by Chef Alma were fresh, and the dishes we prepared were absolutely delicious. The homemade tortillas were our favorite part—we loved learning how to make them from scratch. Creating authentic Mexican dishes and spending time with Chef Alma was truly a memorable experience that we will treasure forever.
She also shared fascinating knowledge about the history of Playa del Carmen, which added so much depth and appreciation to the class.
We absolutely recommend this class to anyone visiting the area. It was a highlight of our trip and an experience we won’t forget.

Playa Del Carmen Aventure - We all do the usual snorkeling or visiting the natural beauty that makes Mexico a favorite vacation spot, but we kind of stepped out of the box this visit and scheduled this cooking school. From the moment we arrived to the moment we bid farewell to our hostess Alma, this was an absolute blast. Her engaging personality and love for cooking made for a wonderful visit to her home. The explanation of the recipes, execution of a variety of techniques, to our hands-on involvement allowed all to contribute no matter what your culinary level was. I initially had a bit of a challenge to convince my group to do this, but being the avid home cook I am and being as adventurous my friends were, this was an amazing 3 hours with the beautiful conclusion of sitting with all participants and eating our creations. What a blast. Highly recommend this if you just need a day out of the sun and want to experience local culture.

Amazing food and great learning - A fantastic experience. We learned so many tricks and correct cooking techniques, especially how to properly cook fresh tortillas. Food was amazing and not the usual tacos, etc. we appreciated that.

A must do if you're in the Playa del Carmen area. - This is the second time taking this class. Chef Alma is so enjoyable & while we cook she also teaches about local cuisine, spices & the food history of the region. Also fun to meet & talk with others in the class, this time a family with their teen girls & a couple from Germany.

Mexican cooking - The experience was very good. We learned alot about the Mexican people. The food was excellent, we learned to make tacitoes, salsa and guacamole. Everything from scratch all the basics of Mexican cooking. Well worth the time and money.

Laugh 'til you snort - This class was a blast! Alma does such a terrific job making everyone feel welcome. It was a fun atmosphere from the start, and I learned so much about Playa del Carmen and about the food we made. I honestly am excited to remake everything when I get home! It was a sincere pleasure meeting everyone in our group and such a fun, informative experience. Will be the highlight of this trip for sure. Could not recommend enough.

Making a Delicious Lunch in a Friendly Atmosphere - Extraordinary experience! Alma was funny and very knowledgeable about the history of her land and the cuisine we made. Right as we entered her colourful and inviting home, she made us feel at ease. Every guest pitched in to prepare the lunch in a friendly atmosphere. Delicioso!
