“JOYÀ“ tells the story of a spirited teenage girl who finds herself in a mysterious jungle within her grandfather’s imaginative world. The elderly biologist is eager to share with his granddaughter his relentless quest for the meaning of life, all while being surrounded by an unusual group of half-human, half-animal beings inspired by ancient Mayan iconography. “JOYÀ“ draws inspiration from the incredible migratory journey of the monarch butterfly, where life is passed down from one generation to the next to ensure the species’ survival.
- At Cirque du Soleil JOYA, we offer 2 types of performances: We have double performance days (6:00 PM and 9:15 PM) and single performance days (8:00 PM). Make sure that on the day you choose for your experience, we have the performance you prefer. Read more about
- Your tickets will be held at the theater box office for collection on the day of the performance. You will be required to present your voucher, along with photo ID in exchange for your tickets.
- ID will be requested for alcohol consumption
- Champagne included in food and beverage experiences can be exchanged for red wine, white wine, juice, water or soft drink, directly in the theater with your waiter.
- Casual-formal dress code.
- We have vegan and vegetarian dinner menu options, in case of food restrictions please notify the waiter at the beginning of your dinner.
- The use of flash is not allowed when taking pictures for the safety of the artists and videos no longer than 1 minute.

Amazing show - This was a spectacular show. The tricks and visuals were so entertaining. Everything was so vibrant and the restaurant before coming in has amazing food. Highly recommended

Great show - my daughter loved it - The show was great, the place were they host the show is also very nice, you can have a meal, drink, live music before or after the show.
The only thing I would say, I paid extra for a better seat and drinks/appetizers. The seats were good but the appetizers were too sophisticated, kids do not have that palate .. there should be more kids friendly options.
Service and show was outstanding.
Transportation provided was also excellent.
Gift shop super overpriced. My daughter wanted a small crotchet dino souvenir but it was $100 bucks. No thank you.

Attention. DE 100!!! - Excellent show!!! And attention DE 100!!!! We had an amazing time! The guys that served us Pamela and Gerson! Very attentive and your recommendations DE drinks were perfect! They explained everything super well, and were all the time watching DE us definitely recommend it very much!!!

Wish fulfilled - Wonderful something unique, I took 2 grandchildren POR first time and wanted to tell them what they would see, I did NO and it was a super surprise for them are 14 and 18 years DE.

Great Show!! Go for sure! - The show was Amazing and the venue was beautiful... It was my first time ever seeing one of the Cirque du Soleil shows.. and what a way to start!! ...Our driver unfortunately, didnt tell us we were at our drop off location, on the way home and when he realized we were still on the van after other drop off.. he just put us out on the street to fend for ourselves becaise he didnt want to turn around and get us back to Plaza Isla.... So we had to get an Uber.... my suggestion is, watch where your going once it gets dark.. because you might miss your stop. Dont rely on the driver to announce stops.. its not like the Bus.

Very nice place - The atmosphere and the location are the highlight of the show. It is worth arriving earlier and enjoying the bars and restaurants.
The show itself left a bit to be desired. Acts very similar. Be prepared for extremely high prices.

Talented performers, but couldn't see well - 2025-July
Shuttle service is available, with schedules posted at each station and on the flyer given with your ticket. Our shuttle was 5 minutes late to Joya. We were instructed to arrive 30 minutes early, only to wait in the cocktail lounge. Note: the complimentary drinks included with your ticket aren’t served until you're inside the theater.
We were seated promptly at 7 PM. A bottle of champagne was included with VIP tickets, but since my son is underage and I don't drink, we were offered four non-alcoholic drinks instead. Unfortunately, it took a long time for the waitress to bring our juice and water.
The theater is beautiful, but the seats are not staggered. If someone tall is seated in front of you—as was my case—you won’t see much. I had to watch the show through the gap between the appetizers on our table. Better seating design would help.
Dinner tickets were sold out, so we had appetizers only. The show is mostly in Spanish, with limited English. We missed several jokes and moments that the audience laughed at.

Transport a joke, poor value for money, little artistry, rip-off when billing for drinks - Not recommended from start to finish. No comparison with other ideas of Cirque du Soleil:
Pros:
- Canapés nicely arranged and of good quality
- Seats or visibility is good from almost any seat
- artistic staging of the performance
Cons:
- Show goes only 1:20 -> Price-performance is absolutely not right
- Transport booked extra (about 100€) was a complete joke. From the hotel we would have had to drive directly past the destination at our own expense, drive in the wrong direction for over 30 minutes to get on a bus there and back again. The way back should then be appropriate, i.e. double way and double cost. Both Expedia and cirque DE soleil did not offer a reasonable solution and I spent 3 hours making pointless phone calls. Tip: Order without transport and on your own account by taxi, is safer and cheaper and you save yourself time and bad mood
- Rip-off and absolute cheekiness, be careful when ordering drinks. Actually, two free drinks per child, so as a second free drink ordered a Coke and a mineral water. In the end they wanted to charge extra for the cola, DA the parents ordered it and not the children!?! and the water (0.75l) should cost 35€. The waitress then added the supervisor, who "graciously" wanted to consider us the cola as a second ES free drink of the children, even though the parents had ordered it... Ridiculous
In summary:
From the anger about the transport before the show, the disappointment about the shortness of the show, the few artistic performances, the rip-off in the reckoning completely destroyed the anticipation. The other guests also seemed less enthusiastic about the event, the clapping was very limited, which I understand very well compared to other screenings of Cirque du Soleil. The many positive reviews, however, are not ES unless you are looking for a gap filler and not a highlight.
I can only give advice to the organisers DA they should take better care of their staff as such behaviour borders on fraud.
