Excellent Communication, Flexibility & On-the-Water Experience - Our group booked a reef fishing charter with Placencia Fishing Charters for 6 anglers during our February stay in Maya Beach, and the experience — both planning and execution — was excellent. From the start, Desorine was fantastic to work with. I was coordinating for a group, and she took the time to walk through options (inner reef vs. reef live bait vs. outer reef) and helped us choose the best fit based on comfort level and weather considerations. Her communication was thorough, responsive, and thoughtful. One thing we especially appreciated was the proactive weather monitoring. A day or two before the trip, she kept me updated on wind conditions and confirmed that reef conditions would be comfortable. That level of transparency built a lot of trust. We booked a half-day Reef Live Bait charter in the larger boat, with the option to extend if the group was enjoying themselves — which they did. The flexibility to upgrade to a full day directly on the water made the experience even better. Payment was easy through the provided link, and logistics were clearly communicated in advance. The guys had a great day on the water and caught plenty of fish. Everything was handled professionally, and the team made sure the experience matched both expectations and conditions. Highlight of our trip! - This was truly the highlight of our time in Placencia! Edlin knows what he’s doing and he was an excellent guide. He was easygoing and fun to be with! We ended up booking a half day snorkeling and fishing tour after the full day fishing tour we did 2 days prior. We were chasing the permit trying to get the grand slam after catching tarpon and bonefish! The coordination and communication was excellent. We would highly recommend this company!

For serious anglers, Edlin is your guide for fishing in Placencia - I’m just back from another fishing tour with Edlin Leslie, owner/captain of Placencia Fishing Charters. Over the years, I’ve gone on fishing tours in various places in the Caribbean. As a serious angler, Edlin is my guide for fishing in Placencia, and Placencia is where I go for fishing. I did 5 tours with Edlin including inside reef, outside reef, deep sea and some fly-fishing on the flats. Edlin asks what types of fish I want to go for, I would tell him but defer each day I let him make the decisions. And no regrets - I got some good fighters and always came home with a great catch. Moreover, my wife and I enjoyed the freshest grilled fish each evening. What an experience! Already booked for next year - can’t wait to go back!

Your Guide for People Serious About Fishing in Belize - Edlin is the guide for serious fishermen. I've gone fishing with various guides for many years who promise this and that. Edlin is the real deal. I went out on 3 tours with him. He knows how to find fish on the reef like finding needles in the haystack. We caught all kinds - snappers, groupers, mackerel and barracudas. He also knows when to call it when the tides goes out. He shares the passion for fishing and knows what it means to have a great day fishing. I booked him again for next few years. Book him if you love fishing too. You will not be disappointed.

Unreliable - I would recommend against booking this company for flyfishing (and possibly other tours). We set up a full day fly fishing trip with them close to a month in advance of our arrival in Placencia. This was a big part of our trip and we were willing to pay top dollar for the trip. On the morning of the trip we were prepared to be picked up at 7:30 am for our trip and were informed at 7 am that they didn’t think the weather was good enough to go out. Disappointing, but understandable. That day the weather ended up being beautiful (still disappointing but understandable). That night the hotel informed me that the company had a lot of success catching fish with other fly fishing clients today and that they’d like to take me the next day (whoops, they shouldn’t have told me that). So, they obviously overbooked trips and blamed it on the weather. If you are looking for reliable fly fishing guides, look elsewhere.
