Natal Lion Park - After exploring Tala Game Reserve, proceed to Natal Lion Park for a brief yet captivating game drive. Here, you will encounter elephants and lions, along with a wide variety of bird species. The park is also home to dense bushland filled with indigenous trees.

Howick Falls - From Natal Lion Park, continue past Pietermaritzburg to Howick. Your first stop is the stunning Howick Falls, a 95-meter waterfall that offers a breathtaking view.

Nelson Mandela Capture Site - Following Howick Falls, drive 15 minutes further to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Visit the museum and the renowned Nelson Mandela monument.

Nelson Mandela was arrested on August 5, 1962, near Howick, Natal, South Africa, and spent the next 27 years in prison. The Nelson Mandela Capture Site honors this historical moment with a visitor center and a famous sculpture.

Underberg - Depart from the Nelson Mandela Capture Site and head to Underberg for an overnight stay. Nestled at the base of the majestic southern Drakensberg mountains, Underberg is a charming town. Its ethereal beauty is highlighted by towering mountains, lush greenery, and the expansive blue African skies. This tranquil part of KwaZulu-Natal offers numerous trails and outdoor adventures.

After breakfast, leave the hotel and head to town to embark on a 4x4 for the start of the Sani Pass tour

Sani Pass - After breakfast, board a 4x4 vehicle to embark on the Sani Pass journey. The Sani Pass is a 33 km gravel road that winds through the steep cliffs of the Drakensberg escarpment in a series of tight zigzag curves. The route begins at the Sani Pass Hotel, situated 1,566 meters above sea level. You will travel in a 4x4 vehicle along the narrow road, crossing the South African/Lesotho border post at 1,968 meters above sea level. Along the way, the landscape of KwaZulu-Natal unfolds, revealing spectacular views of rolling hills and vast skies.
At the summit of Sani Pass, at an elevation of 3,240 meters (9,900 feet), is the “Highest Pub in Africa,” where you can enjoy a warm pub meal. Your tour guide will introduce you to a local Basotho village near the pub, where you can learn about the lifestyle of the Basotho people of Lesotho. Afterward, you will descend Sani Pass, cross the border back into South Africa, and return to Durban.

Durban - The Sani Pass tour concludes around 3 PM, and the journey back to Durban begins, with an expected arrival time of approximately 6:30 PM.
