- Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan - Constructed in 1324, Wat Phanan Choeng predates the Ayutthaya Kingdom by about 26 years. It is among the oldest temples in Ayutthaya and has been pivotal in Thai religious history.
The temple is famous for its large seated Buddha image, Luang Pho Tho, which is approximately 19 meters tall. This statue is revered by both Thai and Chinese devotees, and among the Chinese, it is known as “Sam Pao Kong.”
According to legend, the temple is linked to a Chinese princess named Soi Dok Mak, who tragically died before her marriage to a Siamese king. The temple was subsequently built on the site associated with her story.
- Wat Mahathat - Built in the late 14th century, Wat Mahathat is renowned for once housing the great holy relics of Lord Buddha in its central prang tower. It is also famous for the sandstone Buddha head entwined in the roots of a tree, a highlight of Ayutthaya province.
- Wat Phra Sri Sanphet - Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is internationally acclaimed, having been recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1991. It was the most significant temple during the golden era of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, serving as the royal chapel for the religious ceremonies of Ayutthaya Kings. It is considered the architectural prototype for the Emerald Buddha temple in Bangkok.
