- The Grand Palace - Once the royal residence for the Kings of Thailand during the Rattanakosin era, from King Rama I (King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke the Great) to King Rama V (King Chulalongkorn), the Grand Palace is located in the Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang Subdistrict of Phra Nakhon District in Bangkok. Although it no longer serves as the monarchy’s residence, it remains a crucial venue for important royal ceremonies held annually. Today, the Grand Palace is Thailand’s most visited and cherished tourist destination.
- Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) - The Emerald Buddha, a treasured national icon, is expertly carved from a block of jasper. Displayed in a meditative pose, this statue is placed on a high, tiered base within an altar of gilded wood, representing the Busabok aerial chariot of celestial beings. Its vibrant green hue has given it the name “Emerald Buddha.” The statue, including its base, stands 66 cm tall and 48.3 cm wide from knee to knee. It is believed to have been crafted in northern Thailand during the 15th century.
- Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan - Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is gaining popularity due to its recognition by UNESCO as part of the “Memory of the World.” Wat Pho is renowned for its gold-leaf covered “Reclining Buddha Image,” a colossal statue measuring 46 meters in length and 15 meters in height. Additionally, the feet of the Reclining Buddha Image are intricately inlaid with mother-of-pearl, featuring sacred symbols.
- Tha Maharaj - The Maharaj Pier, located along the Chao Phraya River, offers stunning views of the river and historic architecture. Dining here provides a serene atmosphere with beautiful waterway vistas. The pier hosts a variety of restaurants and food stalls, offering a diverse selection of Thai and international cuisines, including traditional Thai dishes, fresh seafood, and Western food. Dining at Maharaj Pier allows tourists to immerse themselves in the local culture, observing the lively boat traffic and interactions between local vendors and residents.
- Temple Of Dawn (Wat Arun) - Wat Arun, a notable landmark along the Chao Phraya River, features a magnificent pagoda that soars approximately 280 feet into the sky. This splendid temple enchants visitors both day and night. Visitors can stroll around the temple grounds and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya River from the top of the Prang.
- Phra Pin-klao Bridge - This main bridge connecting Thonburi to the city offers stunning views of the Chao Phraya River on both sides. With walkways on either side, it becomes a popular spot in the late afternoon for people to exercise, enjoy the scenery, or take photos. It also serves as the boarding point for a boat ride to the Bangkok Noi canal.
- Khlong Bang Luang Artist House - The Bang Luang Canal Community is a historic neighborhood near the Bang Phai BTS station, situated along the Bangkok Yai Canal. This canal, once a vital waterway, branches off from the Chao Phraya River near Wichai Prasit Fort and extends to the Mon Canal, opposite the mouth of the Chak Phra Canal. A key attraction in the community is the ‘Artist’s House, Bang Luang Canal.’ This distinctive structure is a two-story wooden L-shaped building in the Manila style, built around an ancient twelve-angled chedi. The chedi is believed to be one of the four that mark the boundaries of a nearby temple.
- Wat Pak Nam - Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, located in Thonburi and surrounded by canals including Bangkok Yai, Khlong Dan, Khlong Phasi Charoen, and smaller waterways, is an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period. During King Rama VI’s reign, the temple fell into significant disrepair. In response, the Sangha appointed Phra Mongkol Thepmuni (Sodh Candasaro), also known as “Luang Pu Sodh,” who was then at Wat Pho, to lead Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen in 1916. Since then, the temple has become a vital spiritual center for Buddhists.
Beyond its monastic areas, the temple features notable architecture and attractions, such as the Phra Maha Chedi Maha Ratchamongkol, the Tripitaka Hall, garden relaxation areas, riverside zones, and spots for feeding birds and fish.
