- The residence of the Cambodian royal family, symbolizing the nation
- The stunning royal gardens, adorned with tropical plants and gleaming spires
- The Throne Hall, where royal receptions are held and the Cambodian king’s coronation took place
- The Silver Pagoda, named for the 5,000 silver tiles covering the floor, each weighing 1kg. Inside are some of the country’s most treasured artifacts, including a life-size gold Buddha adorned with 9,584 diamonds, the largest weighing 25 carats.
- Wat Phnom Daun Penh - Next, visit Wat Phnom Temple, a sanctuary established by Daun Penh (Grandma Penh), a wealthy widow who, in 1372, retrieved a log with five Buddha statues from a river and decided to elevate a piece of her land to build a temple for the statues. Eventually, Grandma Penh and the villagers constructed a temple on the hilltop and placed the four Buddha statues inside, while a standing statue of the goddess was placed in a shrine on the eastern side of the hill. This site became sacred, where people come to offer blessings and prayers.
- Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - The tour continues to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school transformed by the Khmer Rouge into a center for interrogation, torture, and death. Today, it serves as a museum of torture, reminding visitors of the horrific events that occurred in Cambodia. 17,000 people passed through this prison, with only seven surviving to share their stories.
- Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - The exploration continues at the Choeung Ek Genocidal Center. Prisoners from Tuol Sleng were brought here to meet their fate. Once an old Chinese cemetery, Choeung Ek was converted into an extermination camp for political prisoners. The remains of 8,985 people were exhumed from mass graves and are preserved in a memorial stupa here. Return to the city.
- Independence Monument - The tour concludes with a visit to the Independence Monument, constructed in 1958 and inaugurated in 1962 during the Sangkum Reastr regime. This monument stands as a proud tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s welfare. Its cool, serene atmosphere makes it a popular destination. Guests will be dropped off at their hotel.
