• Royal Palace - Depart directly from the hotel by cyclo and, depending on the hotel’s location, travel to The Royal Palace, constructed in 1866 by King Norodom. The Palace consists of several structures within a pagoda-style compound, including The Silver Pagoda. Named for its over 5,000 silver tiles, The Silver Pagoda houses numerous national treasures, most notably a life-sized gold Maitreya Buddha adorned with 9,584 diamonds.
• National Museum - Proceed to the National Museum, a building inspired by Khmer temples, which contains the world’s largest collection of Khmer art, including sculptures, ceramics, and bronzes from various periods of Cambodian history. Over 5,000 items are displayed, including Angkorian era statues, Lingas, and other artifacts, with the legendary statue of the ‘Leper King’ being particularly noteworthy. While the focus is on Angkorian artifacts, there is also a significant collection from later periods, featuring a special exhibition of post-Angkorian Buddha figures.
• Wat Phnom - Before returning to the hotel, there is an opportunity to climb to the top of Wat Phnom, the birthplace of the Cambodian capital.
