Important tour - highly recommended - We went to the Killing fields and S21 with our guide Rouan (apologies if I misspelt his name). Rouan was amazing in sharing all the history leading up to Pol Pot and then taking us through that awful time, including how it affected his own family. The tour was very emotional but we felt it was important to understand what the people of Cambodia went through so recently. It is a testimony to the people here that the museums exist and that people want to share their histories to help stop these awful things happening again. We also met Chum Mey at the end of the tour - a 95 year old survivor of S21 who now dedicates his life to sharing his experiences of what happened. There was no pressure to buy his book but I was happy to help support Chum Mey as our guide explained there is no social security to help look after him and the 10$ his book cost is used 50% to support Chum Mey and 50% to support other survivors. Although a tough day in terms of the horrors you see, I recommend the tour so we can all help spread what we learn and remember the poor victims.

An experience - We visited this on our last day in Cambodia, and it was an incredibly moving experience. Throughout our trip, we’d heard stories from our guides in Siem Reap and the locals, but seeing and experiencing this firsthand was deeply sobering. At times, we felt truly overwhelmed and found it hard to process the emotions. Our guide, who had personally lived through those years, shared invaluable insights and stories that offered a powerful and comprehensive perspective. I would strongly recommend that anyone visiting this beautiful country take the time to explore this part of its history. It’s a story that deserves to be seen, heard, and remembered so that history is preserved, and never repeated.

Shaken and touched - Our guide was very good and we got honest answers. This tour makes a big mark. Terrible to hear about torture, but appreciate that they are doing this, so that we can all prevent it from happening again.

10/10 experience. - Our tour guide Neng picked us up from hotel and we then proceeded to the Killing Fields and S21 Museum. It was only My partner and I on the tour. It was a very harrowing half day experience as you visually saw the devastation, complete disregard for human life and evil under the Pol Pot regime. 100% recommend to anyone attending Cambodia 🇰🇭 to learn about how the country is rebuilding and restoring peace. Also recommend our tour guide who was so knowledgeable and kind! we asked so many questions and he knew the answers and MORE to all of them.

If you do one thing in Phnom Penh, do this - I highly recommend our guide Rarn, he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our driver was excellent too. The tour itself was emotional and eye opening. Please don’t leave Cambodia without doing this tour.

A good morning’s tour, well curated - Worth a visit. Would have liked longer to wander around the killing fields after the guided tour bit. Genocide museum made more stark by meeting 2 of survivors.
