Setting Sail with Captain Bob
As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves and exploring the hidden gems of the Caribbean. But when I heard about the Snorkel and Beach Adventure in St. Maarten, I knew I had to experience it for myself. The promise of snorkeling with sea turtles, sunbathing on pristine beaches, and feeling the thrill of jets flying overhead was too enticing to resist.
The day began with a short walk from the cruise ship to the marina, where I met Captain Bob and his trusty vessel, Calico Jack. From the moment I stepped aboard, I could sense the adventure that awaited. Captain Bob’s infectious enthusiasm and deep knowledge of St. Maarten set the tone for the day. With a small group of fellow adventurers, we set sail at 9:30, ready to explore both the Dutch and French sides of the island.
Snorkeling and Sunbathing Bliss
Our first stop was the uninhabited Tintamarre Island, a true paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts. As someone who has spent a lifetime in the ocean, I was thrilled to dive into the crystal-clear waters and swim alongside sea turtles and stingrays. The vibrant marine life and untouched beauty of the island made it a snorkeling experience like no other.
After our underwater adventure, we headed to Pinel Island, where we were greeted by swaying palm trees and calm, waist-deep waters. It was the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy a delicious lunch, and soak up the sun. The local iguanas added a touch of charm to the island, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos to capture the moment.
Thrills and Chills at Maho Beach
As the day continued, we made our way to Creole Rock for another snorkeling session, this time at a vibrant coral reef teeming with colorful fish. The underwater world was mesmerizing, and I found myself lost in the beauty of the marine life.
Our final stop was the famous Maho Beach, where the thrill of watching commercial jets land just overhead was an experience like no other. The rush of the planes combined with the stunning turquoise waters created a perfect ending to an unforgettable day.
Captain Bob ensured our safety and enjoyment throughout the journey, providing us with cold drinks and a wealth of knowledge about the island. As we returned to the marina, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to explore St. Maarten in such a unique and exhilarating way. This adventure was truly the highlight of my Caribbean travels, and I can’t wait to return for another round with Captain Bob and the Calico Jack.
