We arrived excited for the Historic Walking Tour of Old City after having such a wonderful experience on a similar tour in Boston. Because there was a chance of rain in the forecast, the company decided to change the experience from a walking tour to a trolley tour. Unfortunately, we were not notified of this change in advance. Had we known, we would have adjusted our plans and chosen a different tour or time for this tour. While the guides were friendly, funny, and did an excellent job managing a large group, we were disappointed that the tour focused less on the history of Philadelphia than we had expected. Much of the commentary centered on general city information rather than the historical stories and sites we were hoping to learn about. To make matters more frustrating, it never rained during our tour—or even for several hours afterward—so the change ultimately seemed unnecessary. We saw other walking tours out while we were driving around. If you're looking for a general overview of the city, this tour may be a good fit. However, if you're specifically interested in an in-depth historical walking tour, this experience may not meet your expectations.
