Site exceeded expectations. Roslyn, our group's docent, was relaxed and friendly and informative. She kept the tour moving withou making us feel rushed. Laura at reception was lovely in welcoming us. It was a beautiful day and an experience to cherish! Thank you.

Our tour guide was very nice, friendly, and very prepared. I was visiting with my parents who don't speak English, and she was so patient, allowing me the time to quickly translate everything for them. Thank you, I'll be back with more guests!

This museum visit was a personal and professional pilgrimage for me. Wharton Esherick's nephew, Joseph Esherick was my mentor in graduate school - a beloved professor of architecture. He used to tell us about what inspired him to study architecture - it was his uncle's studio, and in particular the spiral wooden stair that seemed to him like a structural miracle. I have been teaching architecture now for 27 years in Montana and I never imagined I would have the chance to see the studio and stair, as I didn't know it was a museum. Late in Joseph Esherick's celebrated career I had the honor of hosting him on a visit to Yellowstone, where we got a private tour of the newly renovated Old Faithful Inn, with another amazing wooden stair that he had always wanted to see - and we took him right up into the crow's nest and onto the widow's walk on the roof - he said it was a lifelong wish of his to see that. I was in Philadelphia this month to see my students receive the Peterson Prize award from the Historic American Building Survey and AIA, and found-out about the Esherick museum (in a web search). The museum staff were good enough to allow me to take a later tour, as I arrived too late for my reserved tour. Our tour guide was incredibly informative and passionate about the studio and Wharton Esherick's work. It was really a tremendous visit, and absolutely the highlight of my Philadelphia trip.
