- Riverside Thai Cooking Class - The Thai cooking class starts at the local Khao Lak market. Here you will choose the ingredients for your Thai dishes, learn about Thai herbs and spices and catch a glimpse of the daily hustle and bustle of local market life.
It’s time to prepare and cook your dishes. This is where the fun really begins. The cooking chef Apple will teach you how to prepare your ingredients the Thai way. Starting with basic curry pastes and Thai seasonings, then cooking techniques before finally creating your impressive Thai meal.
After learning to cook your Thai food there is one more important step in creating a Thai meal to impress your friends. You need to present it in an appetising manner and you will even learn some simple food carving tricks. Then you all dine together in true Thai style and try all the other delicious dishes the class has cooked. I’m getting hungry just thinking about this.
All the fresh ingredients which are used for the Khao Lak Thai cooking class are sourced locally, fresh from the daily market. You will shop with no-plastic bags. Any left over food waste is turned in compost which is used in the herb garden at Riverside.

Amazing afternoon cooking - Apple was amazing she took us around the market told us all about the different ingredients then we went back and cooked our chosen foods. Everything was so organised made it easy to learn and good fun and to top it all the beautiful puppies that came and saw us at the end. I highly recommend Riverside and the lovely Apple

Family cooking experience - Thank you Apple and assistants for such a great experience. The market visit was informative and fun. On arrival at the kitchen we were welcomed and offered free water and coke and allocated to our stations. There were nine people in total and the final menu was extensive with meat, fish and vegan dishes finished off with mango sticky rice. This was so much fun and created a wonderful memory. Thank you Apple you were fantastic.

Really enjoyable with a great lunch at the end - We loved our cooking lesson. Apple collected us from our accommodation and took us to the market. That was so interesting. Then we cooked our chosen meals. We all learnt so much and really enjoyed the experience. Everything was explained really well and we had lots of help. The food at the end was some of the best we had on our whole trip. Thank you Apple.

Unique Thai Cooking experience - Right from our booking,through all the pre experience WhatsApp contact through to dropping us back at our resort,the whole event was a memorable experience
Our resort pick up was right on time and we were dropped at Apples house where the cooking class was held. Everything was explained in clear concise English in a fun and friendly easy to understand way. The variety of different foods we all cooked made for a unique dining experience and we were provided with free coke and/or water
It was such a fun experience run by experienced,knowledgeable,friendly and helpful staff and complemented by plenty of high quality delicious food. I would highly recommend the Riverside Thai Cooking class both to learn Thai cooking and also eat delicious Thai food

Thai cookery experience - What an amazing time we had. The whole experience was great. I went with my husband who does very minimal cooking normally but he was encouraged and got stuck in making a beautiful fish dish which everyone on the course thought was the best dish. We were taken to the morning market & were treated to a tour around by Apple sampling & smelling the fresh produce. She is super knowledgeable about the produce & her English was very good. We arrived at the cookery school which is a modern building in a beautiful rural setting. Everything was ready for us & we were all briefed on the dishes we had chosen & then helped to prepare them. We all sat down together to share the food we had prepared which tasted wonderfully fresh & flavoursome. Since the class Apple has emailed recipes for us to try at home. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would encourage others to try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Enjoyable afternoon! - We really enjoyed our time with Apple. The market was a bit of an eye opener! She has a great set up for cooking at her house. There were only four of us so we learnt 4 dishes as well as spring rolls and mango sticky rice. I'm looking forward to trying some Thai cooking when I get back home. She was also quick to respond to email and Whatapp which was great.

Exceptional cooking course - It is exceptional! Apple was so knowledgable we loved the market tour learning about the different ingredients. The set up was extremely professional and we made 8 different dishes.

A must if you are in the area! - What an experience! We were picked up by Apple from our hotel and drove to the fresh produce market for all the ingredients. We got a professional explanation and then drove to her beautiful workshop. So beautiful and so quiet in the woods. There were 6 students and so we also made six different dishes. Each expertly explained and tasted delicious afterwards! Our stomach was full and we were brought back to our hotel. Thank you Apple and your team for this lovely morning, we really enjoyed this and recommend this excursion for 200%.

Best cooking class we’ve ever done - What a fantastic way to spend a morning. Apple picked us up from our hotel and from the moment we met her, her personality shone through. Such a lovely person from the start, we knew we were in safe hands.
The trip to the market was superb, so different in sights, sounds and smells to those at home and Apple took us through various ingredients we would meet on our course.
Then back to the Riverside where we were set to beginning to prepare our food. All 8 in our group chose different dishes so we learned 8 different different techniques and got to try all of them along with making spring rolls (including a delicious banana and chocolate one).
Each of us took our turn coking while the rest of us watched to learn.
Then we get to eat the food we cooked. It was fab.
I cannot recommend this experience enough and Apple and her team are just wonderful too.
